Job Description

The Shaft Surveyor is responsible for managing the specialist Survey and services and expertise at a Shaft. The work focus timeframe is 1 to 5 years but some plans may have a longer timeframe. In terms of the MSHA it is a 17.2 appointment.

Managing the Activities of the Survey and Evaluation TeamsPlanning monthly Survey and Evaluation requirement and prioritiesCompiling Survey and Evaluation plansSupervising the Survey TeamCompiling, designing and reports and plans appropriate to the Surveying functionImplementing effective controls & proceduresSupervising the measurement of underground production performanceAchieving optimum surveying standardsEstablishing on-Mine Survey StandardsCoordinating Effective Usage of EquipmentImplementing measurements and planning systemCo-ordinating and Advising on Standards and ProceduresSupervising Performance Measuring ProcessSupervising legal compliance to procedures and standardsAchieving legal compliance (Survey)Maintaining MPRDA survey legal complianceIssuing survey instructions and notificationsMaintaining DMR plansMonthly reporting according to standardEnsuring Availability of electronic production Survey plansCompiling Survey and Evaluation plans

This role is at a Band 6 level reporting to Chief Surveyor.

Qualifications

You will need the following:

Mine Surveyors Certificate of CompetencyAdvantageous: Btech Mineral Resource Management  

Experience

5 years’ experience in Mine surveyingAdditional experience in Mine Evaluation

Knowledge And Skills

Competent as 17.2 (a) appointmentValid driver’s license code 08Computer literate for necessary systems
