Starting pay $25+/hr PLUS $2/hr shift differential

Brief Summary

The Shapecutter and Crane Operator is an individual contributor role that encompasses multiple duties including operating a shapercutter, operating overhead cranes, and managing the inventory in a plate yard, amongst many other duties.  Strong communication skills (both verbal and written) are a must.  This critical position requires a highly motivated, detail-oriented, self-sufficient individual that possesses the skills and abilities to successfully manage priorities throughout the day to prepare, load and communicate materials needed for the upcoming production schedule.

Essential Functions:

Maintain well organized inventory locations and records, including regular cycle countsUnderstand and follow daily production schedulesPrepare, load and communicate materials needed for next 24 hours of production scheduleProficient use of an overhead crane to load and unload materialExecute movement of materials based off of daily schedulesLocate and position material onto a burn table for processingUnderstand and interpret prints in order to program equipment correctlyCommunicate with multiple resources to gather and provide information for material movement and processingRemove and properly dispose of scrap from burn tableOperate and maintain all equipment used in the material processing areaMonitor trailer and railcar weight limits; communicate accordinglyDemonstrate excellent safety practices and behaviors which conform to all Valmont safety policies and proceduresPerform various other duties required to ensure customer requests are metThis position reports to the Large Pole Production Supervisor

Required Qualifications:

3-5 years of relevant experienceExcellent communication skills – including both written and verbalProficient computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and IFS.Proficient with basic math skillsAbility to accurately read and use a tape measure, compass, micrometer, mag level, protractor, pressure gauges, and caliperProficient in reading flatsheets and printsCommunicate and interact with coworkers in a positive manner

Highly Qualified:

One year of previous experience programming CNC machineryOne year of previous experience operating a forklift5+ years relevant experience3+ years' experience managing inventory

Other Requirements:

Ability to stand, stoop, bend, sit and squat for up to 100% of the shiftAbility to operate forklifts and other manufacturing equipment safely and efficientlyAbility to work in a non-temperature-controlled environment, as well as working outdoors in various weather conditions.Ability to wear all required PPE (personal protective equipment) for working in the production facility
