Starting Pay $25+/hr PLUS $2/hr shift differential

Brief Summary of This Position

The Rotary Shapecutter Operator is an individual contributor who enters information from the flat sheet necessary to run the machine. This position burns raw steel to a shape used for the purpose of making a shaft. The incumbent operates overhead crane, plate blaster, cutting torch, and forklift and maintains the plate blaster.

Essential Functions:

Locate and load plate to bring into the tableProgram machine to cut plateRemove and properly dispose of scrapRemove plate once cutOperate and maintain the Blastec equipmentMonitor raw plate supply, notify leadperson and Shag truck operator when plate replenishment is needed.Monitor scrap trailer weight limits and notify shag driver when trailer needs to be changedAbility to lift up to 50 pounds, although most frequent lift is 20 poundsAbility to stand, stoop, bend, sit and squat for up to 100% of the shiftAbility to drive forklifts of various capacitiesAbility to work in non-temperature controlled work environment, as well as work outdoorsAbility to wear all required PPE (personal protective equipment) for working in the production facility

Demonstrate excellent safety practices and behaviors which conform to all Valmont safety policies and proceduresPerform various other duties requested by the supervisor to ensure customer requests are metThis position reports to the Large Pole department’s Production Supervisor

Required Qualifications

One year relevant experienceRead and write clearlyProficient at mathAccurately read and use a tape measure, compass , micrometer, mag level, protractor, versa gauge, and caliperAbility to locate information from a computerProficiency in reading flat sheets

Highly Qualified Candidates

One year of previous experience programming machineryA working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Outlook, and IFSOne year of previous experience working in a Manufacturing environmentOne year of previous experience operating a forkliftThe ability to communicate and interact with coworkers in a positive mannerThe ability to pay attention to detail and follow work instructionsMust have a high awareness for safety at all timesMust be a person of passion and integrity who has the drive to excel and deliver exceptional results
