What you will do
Responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive Safety, Health, and Environmental (SHE) vision, strategy, and culture. This role involves leading efforts to align SHE systems with national and international standards, ensuring compliance with regulations, and advancing effective SHE management practices to support AstraZeneca’s strategic objectives.
Manages a range of services to people and/or assets. Will have a team to manage directly and indirectly and will be required to influence across the organisation at many levels.
Administers health management and well-being programs and provides health education programs for the organization.
Applies extensive technical expertise and develops technical solutions to complex problems. Guides the successful completion of major programs and may function in a project leadership role. Applies expertise to complex issues and business needs, who support clients and functions.
SHE and Facilities Manager, Typical Accountabilities
Establishes and implements supply frameworks for a group of services that align with agreed AstraZeneca, African Cluster facility services value streams, ensure security of supply and customers service, to track and optimize performance.Provides strategic oversight, direction and targets for all vendors/suppliers.Develops and maintains risk management and business continuity plans for AZ, African Cluster.Ensures consistency of approach within own area and compliance with legislative and regulatory requirementsPlans, reviews and sets targets for all parts of the value stream and tracks performance against these plansEnsures alignment, connectivity and engagement with services in the Facilities Management delivery chain and other AstraZeneca service functions, identifying and developing service solutions that significantly benefit the AstraZeneca, African Cluster.Supervises Safety, Health and Environment issues in the Company, acting as a SHE Coordinator and Safe Driving FacilitatorPerforms a SHE risk assessment at the beginning of each year, develops and implements annual action plans based on the resultsEnsures workplace-related risk areas, action plans & SHE policy updates are cascaded across organization, employees are timely & properly trained on SHE topics (attracting external providers when necessary)Provides advice in the event of investigations following illnesses, accidents or incidentsSubmits AZ Global SHE quarterly & annual reporting (Sustainability – CO2 Emissions) on SHE and organizes meetings of the SHE committee.Locally maintains projects related to the safety of working conditions for employees (Safe Driving, ergonomics, etc.)Corporate responsibility

Responsible for ensuring that there is a safe working environment for employees and other relevant partiesDeveloping, implementing, and improving SHE system framework in the company in accordance with local legislation and SHE corporate requirements (SHE-policy, responsibilities, employee awareness and controls)Ensuring compliance with relevant health and safety legislation.Identifying OHS-related training needs in the workplace.Conducting safety inspections and risk assessments.Investigating workplace incidents.Reporting on OHS-related activities.Supervising health and safety of employees.Demonstrate management's dedication and commitment to occupational health and safety (OHS)Ensure that all the offices and company’s OHS structures are in place and up-to-date as per the OHS structure and organogram requirements;Provide the necessary OHS information, instructions and supervision, thereby assisting in ensuring the OHS wellbeing of all employees;Ensure that all offices and the company's OHS frameworks are established and maintained in alignment with the requirements of the OHS structure and organogram.Collaborate with OHS supervisors and representatives as a key member of the incident and accident investigation team, reporting findings to the OHS committee. Ensure that all incidents and accidents are promptly investigated, with reports detailing the causes and recommended preventive measures to avoid recurrence, which must be implemented accordingly.Ensure that annual OHS risk assessments are conducted across the company, with findings documented and a management plan implemented to address and mitigate high risks and hazards identified in the assessment;Ensure that OHS representatives thoroughly complete their quarterly "OHS Representative Inspection Checklist" inspections. Address any priority or urgent concerns promptly by discussing them with OHS supervisors and management, and take immediate action to resolve these issues where appropriate. If management support is insufficient to resolve critical concerns, escalate the matter directly to the CEO or executive management to secure the necessary assistance in addressing these valid issues.Provide comprehensive assistance and support to the OHS Committee Chairperson (SHE Manager) and OHS teams, fostering awareness and promoting a well-prepared, healthy, and safe working environment for all employees.Employee Wellbeing
Together with HR, the wellbeing Champion is responsible for developing, planning, and executing wellness initiatives and programs to reduce health risks, medical costs and encourage healthy lifestyles in the organisationLead the wellness initiative by example through practicing healthy behavioursCreate a wellness program with SMART goals and objectivesServe as a trusted source for collecting feedback and input from current wellness participantsAssist in program improvement and development by providing appropriate feedbackProvide the business with the most up-to-date and accurate information on diet, exercise and health.Setting up programs to help employees achieve their health goals.Manages individualised programs for individuals in the organisation (eg smoking cessation, mental health, exercise etc).Co-ordinate medical services and health resources for employeesCreates educational materials, collects data and advocates for wellness programs (Newsletters).Cluster Fleet Management

Must have a completed Advanced Diplomas/National 1st Degrees or Bachelor’s Degree in Facilities Management/ Engineering.A minimum of 3 years’ experience in Facilities/ Operations Management.
