The Gist

The OpCo SHE manager is a pivotal role ensuring the organization's commitment to a safe working environment. This position demands a proactive and hands-on safety professional who can identify and mitigate safety risks effectively. Reporting to the People Director, this role offers a visible platform to directly influence and impact the organization. The OpCo SHE manager will shape a generative Health & Safety culture embedded in decision-making and our ways of working. (SHE: Safety, Health, and Environment).

 

What You’ll Do

Act as the company's SHE expert, managing SHE professionals and enabling practical solutions. Ensure compliance with local and national regulatory agencies, such as Cal OSHA and Cal EPA, etc. Drive continuous risk assessments, eliminating risks where possible and implementing control measures. Own and execute the annual safety plan, including being the custodian of HEINEKEN’s Life Saving Commitments Translate global, regional & OpCo priorities into an effective risk-based H&S strategy and deployment roadmap – in accordance with local legislation. Ensure on-time, in-full delivery of the plan. Proactively engage with stakeholders to develop risk-based safety solutions tailored to business needs. Assist and coach leaders in fostering active health and safety leadership at all levels. Drive safety leadership and functional ownership through all levels in the organization. Own contractor safety management, safety audits, and training programs. Design Health & Safety programs (Telematics, bowtie, culture assessment, BBS, ...) based on global/regional guidance. Coordinate deployment of global Calls to Action. Engage the organization to achieve a balanced safety pyramid and establish a culture of on-time, in-full incident reporting with full transparency. Build and lead an active safety community, overseeing incident reporting and investigations. Collaborate with the global health and safety team and peers in other HEINEKEN companies. Identify good practices from other OpCos and externally. Support, coach, and develop SC’s safety and environment coordinators. Build a winning team. Design a capability matrix for H&S at all levels in the organization. Ensure relevant trainings and learning experiences are available. Talent management for H&S roles. Ensure compliance with all reporting requirements. Design and coordinate the deployment of company-wide mental health and wellbeing programs (HEI-Life). Point of contact for Global Health Manager. Monitors the quality of available health services. Reviews & updates local medical protocols for emergency and non-emergency evacuations. Responsible for Process Safety Management (PSM) and Management of Change (MOC)

 

What We’re Lookin’ For

Demonstrates example behavior regarding Health and Safety. Leads the Safety Pillar, advises site management, and ensures TPM Safety pillar functioning. Provides clear direction to OpCo SHE objectives and priorities. Monitors workplace hazards, ensuring conditions meet SHE standards. Investigates accidents and near misses, ensuring optimal prevention. Identifies SHE training needs, ensuring employee awareness and adherence. Keeps abreast of safety legislation, providing advice for compliance. Builds relations with regulatory bodies and internal stakeholders. Management reporting of H&S performance and trend analysis to flag business risks to MT. Validate Safety Alerts. Build a learning organization. Ensure on-time, in-full delivery of the H&S plan. Recruits, leads, and coaches’ team for effective results.

 

Profile of Success

10-12 years of experience as an experienced Safety Manager. Experience on manufacturing companies as a must. Ideally on Beverage/Foods sector. Experience on Environmental responsibilities. Higher vocational or Academic working and thinking level. Ideally a Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or a degree in Occupational Health and Safety. Demonstrable outcomes of past program designs and implementations, Experience in designing and implementing Health & Safety programs. Ability to positively influence and collaborate with senior managers, Strong stakeholder management and engagement skills Creative and collaborative mindset. Proficiency in English; a second language is preferred.
