Reporting to the Division Manager, Construction. The Sheet Metal Estimator/Project Manager, you will be responsible for providing detailed estimates based upon conceptual documents as well as schematic, design development and construction documents. Working in a team environment, you will also provide technical and administrative support to project operations with emphasis on sheet metal estimating, reporting and monitoring progress, planning, scheduling, and dealing with project change. The Sheet Metal Estimator / Project Manager will work collaboratively with the Mechanical and Electrical teams to compile comprehensive and accurate project take-offs.
Duties & Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Sheet Metal Estimator:
Prepares estimates of probable costs of materials, labour and equipment for construction projects based on contract bids, quotations, schematic drawings and specifications Evaluate and review proposal specifications to identify scope of work Establishes and maintains the tendering process, sets up cost monitoring, reporting systems and procedures\ Ensure accuracy of estimates Coordinates price packages with suppliers, subcontractors, owners, designers and architects, and ensure cost of goods and materials are in line with industry standards by identifying best costs and rates Participates in site reviews, tender reviews, tender hand-off, project closing and operational/sector meetings with Project Managers as requiredPrepares and maintains a directory of suppliers, contractors and subcontractors Liaises, consults and communicates with engineers, architects, owners, contractors and subcontractors Participates in material and equipment purchasing for secured jobs as required Coordinates various small to mid-size projectsProject Management:
Assist with overseeing installations and billing on some projects as required Attend site meetings as required Complies with Safety Management System; one site inspection weeklyPlans in conjunction with Division Manager to execute projects in conjunction with Black & McDonald corporate policies and construction business practicesPrepare progress reports with other team membersBuilds and maintains customer and supplier/vendor relationships to enhance competitiveness in the industry and promote good customer relationships as well as identify potential business opportunities.Assist with preparation and submittal of budgets estimates for data entry in JDEdwardsAssist in the planning and preparing of construction schedules and milestones and monitors progress against established schedulesNegotiates revisions, changes and additions to contractual agreements with consultants, customers, suppliers and subcontractorsManages the implementation of quality control programsWorks with field staff as a team to review the project documents and discuss labour requirements and staffing, assist in the hiring and supervision the activities of union labour, subcontractors and subordinate staffSolicit and submit shop drawings in conjunction with mechanical teamAssist in preparation of O&M manualsTravel to various sites or customers to undertakes the above objectivesAssist in monthly progress billingsCOMPETENCY REQUIREMENTS

Skilled Trade Certificate preferably Sheet MetalWORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
A minimum of 5 years’ experience estimating mechanical sheet metal projectsSKILLS, ABILITIES, AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Comprehensive understanding of estimating, forecasting and schedulingExperience with Accubid Enterprise/Bid2Win, as well as working knowledge of Word processing, Excel spreadsheets and OutlookJDEdwards experience, is an assetBlueprint reading, and sheet metal design interpretationStrong attention to detailWell organized and able to handle multiple assignments under a tight timelineCommunicate effectively both written and verbalPersonable and able to interact with customers directlyAbility to work in a team environment with commitment to excellencePlease be advised that a Criminal Background Check and Professional Reference Check will be required as part of our employment screening and selection process.
