Sheet Metal Mechanic, Level 3-4
Schedule: (Full-time) Mon-Thurs 5am-3:30pm OR
Fri/Sat/Sun 5am-5:30pm (paid for 40 hrs)
Overtime Status: Non-exempt
Job Overview Plans, lays out, fabricates, assembles, installs, and repairs sheet metal parts, equipment, and products. Reads and interprets blueprints, sketches, or product specifications to determine sequence and methods of fabricating, assembling, and installing sheet metal products. Lays out and marks dimensions and reference lines on material to develop and trace patterns of product or parts, or uses templates. Sets up and operates fabricating machines such as shears, brakes, presses, forming rolls, and routers, to cut, bend, block and form, or straighten materials. Shapes metal material over anvil, block, or other form. Inspects assemblies and installations for conformance to specifications. May monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures and certify/test product.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Follow company policies and procedures.
• Follow directions and / or instructions, as directed.
• Familiar with Internal Customer Interfaces, as defined by the process assigned.
• Process forms and document work by utilizing their endorsement, in accordance with the Quality Management System.
• Notify immediate supervisor of any suspected un-airworthy condition noted while performing their duties.
• Have a good understanding of blueprints, technical manuals and planning documents with normal supervision.
• Acquire and maintain hand tools, if necessary, to complete work assigned.
• Clean, disassemble and identify components, with normal supervision.
• Accomplish basic repairs with normal supervision.
• Apply different type’s conversion coatings and sealants using different types of tools and methods with normal supervision.
• Work in conjunction with higher grade Mechanics to further their job knowledge base through OJT with normal supervision.
• Cleans work area, when required with minimal supervision.
• Other various duties as needed or assigned.
Required Qualifications
Considerable knowledge of the job. Complete acquaintance with and understanding of the general and detailed aspects of the job, and their practical applications to problems and situations ordinarily encountered.
