Position Summary
D Shift 6 pm- 6 am
Under the direction of the Printing Supervisor, the Sheeter Operator will be responsible for obeying all IP safety policies, PPE protocols, and enforcing a safe working environment while helping to promote a “SAFETY FIRST” mentality and culture throughout all facets of the facility.
The Sheeter Operator is responsible for hanging, threading, and splicing in rolls of paper to be cut to specified size, assuring squareness, proper de-curling to prevent wrinkles and warp for the press. Following the sheeter scheduled line-up, ensuring proper roll and sheet specifications required while maintaining quality and efficiencies.
The Sheeter Operator will be responsible for quality checks ensuring proper squareness is met. The Sheeter Operator will communicate and assist the Lead Press Operator when an urgent rerun for press is needed. The Sheeter Operator will be responsible for communicating and coordinating with the Lead Press Operator, and crew on a daily basis, ensuring press needs for job lineups are accomplished.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities Follow all IP Safety, PPE, IES and ZES procedures while also helping to enforce and instill a “SAFETY FIRST” culture within the company. Keep and enforce a clean work area, free of clutter, and report any and all safety hazards immediately. Responsible Providing accurate quality and quantity of litho sheets according to job specifications such as caliper, roll width, and board grade. Inspection of incoming raw roll material for shipping and water damage and report to Supervisor. Communicate effectively with the Press crews, and Stackdown departments, and promote safety and proper PPE usage, efficiencies, quality etc. while maintaining a professional demeanor. Must have the ability to learn and understand the basics of math, conversions and measurements. Have the ability to learn and understand computer software for roll usage and consumption. Be able to communicate and train fellow associates when needed, doing so in a professional manner. Move rolls up to 7000 lbs. using motorized roll pusher. Load/hang rolls of stock into the sheeter via electronic pallet jack and roll skate. Set up the sheeter for exact specifications according to the job order. Make adjustments on sheeter as needed to maintain quality, job specifications, and efficiency. Understand and perform routine maintenance. Ensure the completion of jobs meeting all quality and quantity requirements. Properly document and enforce correct waste usage data. Perform all required “IES” maintenance to machines according to departmental Safety procedures. Assist other departments as needed depending on job requirements. Responsible for the completion of all required records, materials used, EOS reports, documents etc. Follow, Enforce, and Comply with all Safety Procedures, work rules, and regulations. Maintain and enforce clean departmental housekeeping standards. Complete required training including, but not limited to: Monthly IP Safety training, OSHA compliance, forklifts, floor jacks and SDS training as needed. Other duties as assigned. Technical Skills RequiredMust have the ability to learn and understand how to read, and use a micrometer. Must have the ability to learn and understand how to read a ruler and the ability to convert decimals to inches and millimeters.
Hours of Work
Work hours dependent upon shift. Possible overtime and on call responsibilities.
Job RequirementsProper daily Safety and PPE practices according to IP safety protocols. The ability to work independently and to also communicate and lead effectively with other employees of the organization and work in a team environment. The ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Must be able to read a ruler. Maintain a clean and safe work area by 6S standards Obey company policies according to the International Paper Handbook. Expected to be at workstation ready to work on time on assigned shifts.
