Sheetmetal Mechanic

GENERAL DESCRIPTION\n

Work a full range of aircraft sheet metal duties including, but not limited to, disassemble, modify, repair and reassemble complex aircraft metal items & systems, including bulkheads, airframes, spars, air scoops, flaps, wings, pylons, sponsons, fuselages, skins, ribs, gussets and internal and external fuel tanks.\n

DUTIES\n\nCandidate must be intimately familiar with all associate pneumatic and power riveting tools and sheet metal tools\nAnalyze and evaluate structural damage to metal system and items\nDevelop patterns using a combination of parallel and radial line development\nFabricate, install, and repair a variety of items and systems made from a wide variety of metals, e.g., stainless steel, copper sheet, magnesium, honeycomb, alloys, aluminum etc.\nReplace sections and patch old systems\nCut, bend, shape, and form metals for items that have numerous irregular angles, planes and curves with varying pitch and circumference \nUse a variety of assembly joints, complex fastening systems, riveted or welded joints\nDrill or punch holes\nAssemble or repair items by seaming, soldering, bolting, screwing, riveting, tacking and spot welding\nUser precision measuring instruments such as calipers, protractors, snap ring, height, depth, dial and screw pitch gauges, squares, rulers, trammel points and sine bars\nOther Duties as Assigned\n\n

EDUCATION\/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS\n\nHigh School Diploma or equivalent\nA&P license not required but a plus\nPrefer experience from military fixed wing and\/or rotor community, including, but not limited to: F\/A-18, P-8, F-5, T-6,T-44,H-60 variants or civilian heavy structures sheet metal\/fastener R&R background.\nFive (5) years relevant experience in heavy structures or military aviation background\nMilitary installation DEPOT level maintenance experience and\/or equivalent major MRO facility preferred.\nMust be able to read and interpret blueprints\nMust be familiar with U.S. Military aviation maintenance criteria and specifications\nMust be able to manufacture, fabricate, develop, install and repair a variety of items from a variety of metals including high strength steel, titanium, aluminum and numerous alloys, fiberglass and honeycomb\/composite skins.\nUp to 25% travel may be required\nMust be a US Citizen\nMust be able to pass a National Agency background check, which could include a criminal history and credit check for access to Government facilities.\nWe maintain a drug-free workplace and perform post offer, pre-employment substance abuse testing.\n\n
