Overview The Salvation Army’sCambridge Corp. is hiring aShelter Staffand offers excellent benefit package to eligible employees including: + Generous paid time off every year that includes: vacation and sick time, holidays, and up to 3 personal days. + Employer funded Pension Plan (company contributions begin after 1 year of employment) + Comprehensive health care coverage with low cost employee premiums, co-pays and deductibles + Eligibility for supplemental insurance plans including Short Term Disability, AFLAC and Voluntary Term Life + Flexible Spending Accounts + Eligibility for the Federal Government’s Public Student Loan Forgiveness Program + Most importantly – a job with a good purpose! _________________________________ The following benefit package is offered to part-time employees (20+ hours/week): + Generous paid time off every year that includes: holidays, vacation time and sick time + Employer funded Pension Plan (company contributions begin after 1 year of employment and consistently works 20+ hours/week) + Eligibility for supplemental insurance plans including: Voluntary Term Life & AD&D benefits, AFLAC Insurance Location : Cambridge, MA Pay Range : Starting at $19 per hour 40 hours per week – 1 opening 25 hours per week – 1 opening Provide on-site monitoring of guest activities in the shelter QUALIFICATIONS Maintain a Safe and Secure Environment a) Screens guest upon arrival and assess their ability to function within shelter guidelines. b) Orient new guests to shelter guidelines. c) Monitor all activities within the shelter facility ensuring that all guests adhere to establish rules. d) Respond appropriately to needs and requests of shelter guests - Resolve conflicts. e) Encourage, support and motivate guests, in order to foster cooperative participation within the shelter community. f) Maintain log of events to relay pertinent information to shelter staff. g) Field all phone inquiries and make appropriate referrals when necessary. Maintain clean and orderly environment a) Implement established procedures for keeping the kitchen, common and sleeping areas clean by supporting volunteer and guest efforts. b) Monitor use of laundry and distribution of towels and bedding. c) Assist in preparing, serving and clean-up of meals, as needed supervising guest participation. d) Maintain inventory of shelter supplies and relay needs to the Program Director. e) Participate in weekly staff meetings. f) Perform other duties within the scope of the position Other Qualifications Interest and ability to work with homeless persons and to develop skills necessary for good job performance Good interpersonal skills.
