Ventia has been appointed to deliver facilities management services, including Essential Safety Measures, across approximately 40 Justice Facilities in Victoria. Our goal is to ensure these buildings comply with life safety requirements set by the State of Victoria through the Department of Justice and Community Safety (DJCS). We are now seeking a SHEQ Manager to join our Defence and Social Infrastructure (D&SI) sector in a permanent, full-time role based in Melbourne.
Key responsibilities of the SHEQ Manager;
Implement and manage SHEQ Management Plans across the contract. Ensure compliance with legislation, regulations, and safety standards. Lead safety incident investigations and provide recommendations. Support operations in SHEQ risk management and compliance. Foster a strong safety culture and ensure adherence to SHEQ policies. Oversee employee rehabilitation, including Return to Work planning. Manage risk assessments, registers, and critical risk protocols. Deliver safety-related training and compliance communications. Monitor and report SHEQ performance data to leadership.
Skills and experience required;
Tertiary qualification in Workplace Health & Safety, Environment, or Quality. (Or equivalent diploma and years of experience) ICAM or equivalent incident investigation training. Proven experience as a safety professional in industrial settings. Strong knowledge of SHEQ legislation, regulatory requirements, and ISO standards. Ability to develop strategies for compliance, risk minimization, and continuous improvement. Experience in utilities, infrastructure, or resources sector (preferred). Police clearance and Working with Children check required.
