SHIFT COORDINATOR NC

The Shift Coordinator assists with leadership responsibilities for a designated unit or during the overnight shift. The position is responsible for ensuring that the overall operations of the shift meets all policy, protocol, and licensing requirements, ensuring the provision of the highest quality of service to the clients by creating an atmosphere that is safe, respectful and positive for all.

Must attend 12 hours of Person Centered Thinking training prior to or within 90 days of hire.

High School graduate or equivalent required; Associate's Degree (at least 60 college credits) or Bachelor's Degree or equivalent education/experience in a Mental Health of Human Services related field preferred.

Must be at least 21 years of age.

At least two years of experience working with children/adolescents required in a mental/behavioral health setting or specifically in a professional caretaker role.

Must possess basic personal computer knowledge and skills.

Valid driver's license preferred.

CPR/First Aid certification required.

Assist the LPN and RN in providing support to the unit or late night staff.

Assist the LPN and RN to ensure there are appropriate staffing patterns in the unit or during shift at all times. This responsibility also includes when the clients are asleep. Staffing patterns must meet or exceed mandated ratios, taking into account all precautions, levels, and special needs.

Maintain human resources requirements and ensure all assigned staff have current clearances and other human resources requirements.

Maintain personal training requirements of at least 40 training hours annually. Expectations will include training hours outside of regular working hours. Assist in the responsibility for training of unit or late night staff, providing training in the house or during the shift to supplement the already established departmental and organizational trainings. Ensure all assigned staff have at least 40 training hours annually to meet organizational, licensing, and program training requirements.

Oversee the client admissions to the program, ensure that youth are welcomed into the program and that required program documentation is completed according to all requirements and expectations. Oversee all discharges from the program to ensure that all documentation is completed and that the youth has all their belongings.

Assist the Operations Manager with the ordering and maintenance of adequate supplies as well as the completion of all unit/shift documentation. Perform quality assurance review of unit/shift documentation to insure that it is completed correctly.

Able to communicate effectively and professionally with all you may have contact including verbal interactions with customers, clients, supervision, clinical teams and co-workers. Communicate all concerns, issues and recognitions to the Program Leadership and direct reports in an efficient and timely manner.

Assist in the search during elopement situations.

Understand and enforce compliance with all established policies and procedures of KidsPeace Corporation. Maintain a safe and secure environment by remaining alert and awake throughout the entire shift duration.

De-escalate any client in crisis; diffuse any staff interaction difficulties. Possess knowledge of all KidsPeace policies and necessary skills to provide prompt and dependable action in all emergency situations, i.e.: fires, elopements, medical emergencies, disaster plans, evacuation procedures, notifications and completion of necessary paperwork.

Perform other responsibilities and duties as requested by LPN, RN, or Program Leadership. Participate in weekly program leadership and departmental meetings as requested by LPN, RN, and/or other Program Leadership.
