As Shift Electrical Craftsperson at Sodexo, you will be the go-to person, the one with the answers to everyone's questions, and the one who knows how to keep the facilities operating smoothly. You will be the specialist who will provide technical advice and support for the maintenance of equipment, building fabric, and utility services across the Manchester Foundation Trust Hospital estate. What you’ll do: 

The post holder will be a member of a multi- disciplined/skilled team comprising of 8 skilled craftsmen and 4 assistants, working a 24 hour rotating shift pattern. By using Specialist knowledge and skills gained from training, experience and appropriate qualifications, the post holder will work as part of a team or on occasions work alone, following the Lone Working Policy and using one’s own initiative providing the safe operation and maintenance of a range of complex plant, equipment and control systems over the hospital site. To achieve this the post holder will carry out a wide range of planned and emergency mechanical/electrical activities to a high standard. The post holder will carry out their duties in an efficient manner with full awareness, understanding and compliance with the Trust and Sodexo’s Health and Safety, Infection Control Policies and Procedures including the Trust/Sodexo Permit to Work systems. At all times the post holder shall carry a page/emergency bleep to enable him/her to respond to and prioritise calls to ensure timely action and a mobile telephone to enable communication with other departmental/non departmental staff of all positions as and when required. These communications will normally be via the Help Desk or in an emergency, direct from the Hospital switchboard (fire alarms, lift trappings etc). The post holder will prioritise workloads at all times, work under pressure in emergency situations where failure to act promptly of safely may result in serious injury, damage or loss of life.

What you bring: 

Fully qualified Electrician holding a City & Guilds/NVQ qualification to 18th Edition IET Regulations, or equivalent. Experience repairing plant and equipment, as well as the ability to fault find, read drawings, diagnose, and repair equipment using your technical knowledge. Ability to keep work pace and meet deadlines, along with good organisation skills Great communication skills, strong teamwork, and a positive attitude  Capable of working as part of a team or unsupervised, and of remaining calm under pressure

37.5 hours per week £15.33 - £18.66 per hour Recruitment retention payment additional £3,500 per annum Standard overtime paid at 1.5x Bank holiday overtime paid at 2x 27 Days annual leave + bank holidays 4 weekly recurring rota 

Week 1

Wednesday - Sunday 10pm -6am

Week 2

Tuesday - Wednesday 10pm - 6am Friday - Sunday 6am - 2pm

Week 3

Tuesday - Thursday 2pm - 10pm

Week 4

Tuesday - Thursday 6am - 2pm Friday - Sunday 2pm - 10pm
