JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Shift Engineer reports to and works with the Plant Services Chief Engineer in performing the Plant Services’ responsibility of coordinating with NGCP System Operator and WESM for the trading and dispatch of electricity to the grid. The shift engineer ensures that day-to-day power plant operations comply with rules and regulations set by the government pertaining to power generation and trading.
The Shift Engineer also provides immediate technical advice to CFB (Onsite & Offsite) Operations personnel to optimize plant operations, to ensure compliance and plant availability requirements are met, to resolve short-term technical and quality issues and to prepare for special and emergency operation activities such as start-up and shutdown.
He also conducts tactical short-term studies and participates in continuous improvement projects to improve the efficiency and safety of operations, enhanced product quality, and environmental impact of operations.
QUALIFICATIONS:
A. A. FORMAL EDUCATION:
Preferably B.S. in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (licensed preferred)
B. B. EXPERIENCE:
Preferably two (2) years’ experience in Power Plant Operations
C. SKILLS:
MENTAL - Good analytical and problem solving ability, decisive, computer literate, quality and safety conscious.
MANUAL – Driving
BEHAVIORIAL AND INTERPERSONAL – Good motivation, initiative, alertness, good organizer with leadership qualities, ability to get along with people, cooperative.
