Position Summary:

 

To analyze incoming ingredients, in process, finished goods, environmental samples, air monitoring samples, water samples, human swabs to ensure the product and work place conforms to microbiological speciation laid down by the organization.

QUALITY CHECKS

 

Ensure daily plating of samples. Check that all finished product that producing, comply with the company’s specification.Take the necessary samples as laid out per the QC procedure.Grade all finished product as laid out by the QC sampling procedure, record information on to all relevant physical and electronic documentationPerform adequate testing’s procedures on individual finished products.Performs environmental swabs of lines on a monthly basis.Performs air monitoring samples in the facility on a quarterly basis.Performs water analysis for microbiology as per frequency defined by the company.Daily reporting in electronic documentation.Responsible for external laboratory testing of various ingredients and finished products, as per the frequency defined by the company.

 

 

ACCEPT / HOLD / REJECTION

 

Ensure that the Raw/In process/finished product have been tested appropriately to meet the required finished product specification.  Communicate any changes in quality with the QC and Production Executive.Pass requisition for the accepted finished goods.Make rejection notes for beyond satisfactory limits of finished product specification.Communicate with production manager, plant manager, store manager, in case of any rejection or hold made.

 

 

NEATNESS OF WORKPLACE

 

Ensure that the entire microbiological laboratory remains in hygienic condition and good repair at all times.Ensure that the equipment in this section is clean at all times.All waste is disposed off after autoclaving  in the correct containers and is removed / emptied into the appropriate waste areas

MAINTENANCE & GENERAL DUTIES

 

Report any defects in equipment performance to the Supervisor.Carryout simple adjustments to keep equipment running at optimal efficiency.Replace consumable parts as required and any other duties deemed reasonable.To perform any other reasonable work related tasks as instructed by the QC Manager.Responsible for preparing and maintaining the QA budget with respect to Microbiological costs

 

SAFETY

No loose wires or electrical panels are open to the environment (Only engineers have access to electrical panels).All floors are kept dry to minimize slips.Use of appropriate Personnel Protective Equipment (PPE)..

 

TRAINING & DEVELOPMENT

 

Conduct frequent trainings for awareness of various food safety systems related to microbiology, hygiene and GMP..Schedule internal audits on regular intervals

 

 

AUDIT’S

 

Conduct audits, including closing out audit findings, creating audits finding reports and determine proper corrective and preventive actions.Assisting the Quality Assurance Manager by acting as audit leader of assigned audits in microbiology

 

OTHER DUTIES

 

Implement and monitor 5S in Micro lab.Calibrate instruments in-house.Add new procedures, work instruction, formats in QA procedures.Conduct outsources calibration for all QA instruments.Prepare the monthly reports and trend charts.

He should have sound knowledge of lab equipment like Incubators, Hot Air oven, Autoclave, Water baths, Laminar Air flow etc.He should have knowledge of basic microbiological testing procedures like Total Plate Counts, Coliforms, e coli, Salmonella, Yeast and Mold, Pseudomonas, Listeria etc.He should have awareness regarding GMP practicesMust be adept in use of MS Office 2000 or later, particularly Excel and Word, and ideally Access or similar database to basic level, Internet and email.
