Shift Lead (2nd Shift)

Job Description:

Mars Petcare is looking for a Shift Lead at the Columbus, OH location!

Pay: $34.48/HR + $2/HR Shift Premium

What do we manufacture?

Pedigree, Cesar, Nutro, Royal Canin, Iams, Whiskas, Sheba pet food and Greenies and temptations treats.

What is the required shift?

2nd Shift: Monday- Friday 2pm- 11:30pm

(Occasional weekends pending business needs)

Job Purpose:

The Shift Lead is responsible for safety, quality, and operational targets while driving continuous improvement through performance management, associate training/development and team engagement for up to 8 associates

What are we looking for?

Minimum Requirements:

High school diploma or GED3+ years manufacturing experienceExperience in a people leadership roleMechanical training or backgroundWPT Work place transport (WPT) experience  (Ex: forklift, pallet jack, etc.)Computer savvy with MS Office

Physical Requirements:

Frequent lifting/carrying (10-50 lbs.) and frequent pushing/pulling (50-200 lbs.). Frequent handling/gripping/bending/stooping Ability to work at elevated heights off a ladder or platform, climb stairs, leaning over equipment Ability to stand and / or work on feet for extended periods  Ability to work a flexible schedule as needed to support production needs and to conduct multi-task work in a very fast paced work environment Ability to read, write and understand English Able to handle hot, cold and wet temperature environments   

Preferred Qualifications:

2+ years of experience leading people5+ years experience in a manufacturing environmentPrevious experience in a quality role

What will be your key responsibilities?

Site strategy and delivery of the day to day production metricsManage and motivate a team to meet KPIs with a quality and safety mindset while driving associate engagement and development.Maintain operational standards and production processes being responsible co-ordination, decision-making, and driving of the manufacturing operation.Follow escalation process and policiesImplement changes in methods, equipment, systems and organization, as needed, to assure the objectives of the line/area are met, and give input and recommendations for such changes by using a Continuous Improvement mindsetEnsures standard running conditions are always met & represents operations in Daily and lead weekly meetingsCreates weekly crewing plan to ensure non-core running crew are allocated tasks eg. Hygiene, Quality, Ownership, GMP and SafetyEnsure compliance throughout factory and issue amendments
