Shift Lead Engineer- Photolithography

Leads a team of shift engineers and technicians that develop and sustain processes and tools by supporting manufacturing, improving efficiencies, correcting excursions while increasing up time and product throughput. Other assignments include supervising team efforts towards the support of existing processes, correcting process and tool deviations through root cause analysis, supporting development experiments while using statistical process controls and data analysis to support and monitor the performance of processes and tools used in the Photo manufacturing process. Leadership responsibilities include setting priorities for the day and following up to ensure those priorities are being met, employee performance management, interacting with and being the liaison between PI, PDE, ODE and MDE. 

 

Safety Expectations 

·        Maintains a clean, safe and accident-free work environment. 

·        Proactively promotes and improves safety concerns. 

·        Helps to develop safety protocol and improve current safety procedures. 

·        Works with Equipment Engineer and/or Safety engineering to resolve tool related safety issues. 

·        Accurately identifies and appropriately handles chemicals and associated hazards in work area. 

·        Recognizes and reacts appropriately to safety alarms (EES, fire alarm, MDA, etc). 

·        Adheres to all company-wide and departmental safety procedures. 

·        Adheres to and proactively promotes cleanroom safety practices and procedures in the Fab. 

·        Keeps self and team up to date on safety LEs. 

·        Ensures team meets all department requirements for safety audits and good catches. 

 

Basic Job Expectations 

·        Understand top priorities during the shift and directs shift resources appropriately. 

·        Ensures team reacts to SPC events in a timely, efficient, and correct manner. 

·        Identify deviated product, determine the need for rework/documentation and notifies other areas if needed. 

·        Follow up on appropriate Fab Wide Issues throughout the shift and update the FWI page as needed. 

·        Ensure SWR’s process correctly through the area and follow up with appropriate people when SWR’s are not set up right. 

·        Establishes scenarios and guidelines for which skill sets are needed on shift and ensures proper coverage (including overtime). 

·        Continuously focuses on improving process flow knowledge for the main technologies in Fab 4 

·        Serves as the main point of contact for other on-shift teams for questions and issues related to Photo. 

·        Run the Daily Area Meetings (DAM) 

·        Initiates extra communication to clarify items where there is ambiguity or uncertainty 

·        Provides communication and coordination of problems/issues with the appropriate people including MTs, shift technicians, shift engineers, development engineers, area management, etc. 

·        Engage with equipment team in fab at a minimum of 1X per week. 

 

Develops Team 

·        Critically examines each team member to understand skill sets and development opportunities. 

·        Sets specific performance and development goals with each individual in your team. 

·        Ensure team members are being challenged through appropriate project work. 

·        Creates an effective performance review for each individual of the team.   

·        Sets job expectations for each team member and reviews them regularly. 

·        Meets 1 on 1 with each team member no less than once per month. 

·        Reviews progress of each individual with MDE Lead of Leads during 1 on 1. 

·        Ensures sufficient cross training so team can handle vacations and unplanned time off.  

·        Responsible for calling in overtime help when necessary. 

·        Mentors team members with leadership aspirations. 

·        Designates and develops a back-up lead for each shift to assume lead engineer responsibilities when normal lead is absent. 

 

Area Leader 

·        Strive to be the on-shift expert for the entire team and acts as a resource for all questions and issues that arise on shift. 

·        Suggest and implement improvements related to Photo area efficiency or optimization. 

·        Is an expert and resource on area software including but not limited to GeRM, Micron Central, Space, SWR, QDR, MES, Sigma, CDeeze, and KT-Analyzer.  

·        Sponsors, leads, or participates in area improvement teams. 

·        Remove barriers for team and non-value added tasks. 

·        Identify and fix chronic area issues. 

·        Establish and maintain effective relationships with all customers (PI, PDE, MDE, ODE) and gains their trust and respect   

·        Continually solicit feedback from your team and be their voice to area leadership.
