Shift Lead Technician (Mechanical Bias)
  Job Overview To manage a team of technicians and to take charge of the workload and any issues arising during the shift, to ensure that the shifts work is completed within the timescales. Ensure that the delivery of reactive and planned maintenance is delivered to a high standard. The role will include shift working.

Main Duties

To manage, lead and motivate a team of technicians and crafts people and specialist sub-contractors providing planned preventive and reactive maintenance to engineering services and buildings within the hospital.

Act as group leader and deploy staff to complete the workload effectively whilst also having a hands on role within the team, communicate with relevant members of the supervisory/management team.

To ensure a shift handover is completed with the on-coming shift, this is to ensure the continuity of completing any outstanding works that are required and complete logbooks which confirm the works completed on their shift.

Encourage co-operation, teamwork and versatility including liaison with other disciplines and hospital staff. This will include where necessary resolving complaints by Trust staff.

 

Supervise all jobs in progress to ensure a smooth flow of work is maintained

 

Undertake surveys of hospital properties and report on the condition thereof

 

To maintain and improve work carried out on PPM basis.

 

Make regular checks on all equipment/machinery being used by staff under their supervision.

 

Carry out the general administration of their section.

 

Interpret and work from all daily works orders, instructions, general drawings and specifications without supervision.

 

Arrange for or diagnose and repair faults in engineering and/or electrical and/or plumbing installations, plant and equipment and deal with new situations as they arise.

 

Understand the working of the mechanical and/or electrical and/or plumbing systems in their area of control

Instruct others on the above features and other aspects of his work.

 

To work to relevant standards and legislation including but not limited to H&S legislation, relevant Health Technical Memorandum, British Standards and good industry practice.

Any other duties as reasonably required by the role or requested by MITIE management.

·         Recognised electrical or mechanical engineering apprenticeship.

·         Appropriate BTEC, City and Guilds experience

 

·         HNC or HND in a relevant discipline

Knowledge & Experience

 

·       A minimum of 5-Years post-apprenticeship including supervisory experience

 

·           Hospital experience

·           Operational FM experience
