What we need:

Mohawk is looking for a Shift Lead – Milling who can achieve more for the Mohawk Wood & Laminate division.  This person will work under direction of the department supervisor, operate equipment, and verify the correct material is used in production for each product. In the assigned area, the Shift Lead provides work guidance and training support for line operators and lift truck drivers. This person will execute duties and lead the team with moderate supervision and will follow all standard procedures and processing guidelines.

 

What you’ll do:

Ensures compliance with all company safety rules and procedures. Directs and coordinates the activities of all shift employees engaged in the production process; participates in employee selection and performance reviews. Delegates and follows up on work schedules, assignments, and production sequences, to meet production goals. Confers with management or subordinates to resolve worker problems, complaints, or issues. Confers with other supervisors to coordinate operations and activities within departments or between departments. Confers with management and engineering to best maximize production and output. Works with the production team in assigned department to best maximize department production and output. Reads and analyzes charts, work orders, or production schedules to determine production requirements. Uses information systems (Shop Floor Control, Locus, Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.) to maintain operations data including production and prepares shift reports as required by management. Fills in for operators and team members as needed; ensures all shifts are covered and helps to plan for known staffing gaps. Recommends measures to motivate employees and improve production methods, equipment performance, product quality, or efficiency. Requisitions materials, supplies, or repair services. Inspects materials, products, or equipment to detect defects or malfunctions. Demonstrates equipment operations or work procedures to new employees or assigns new employees to experienced workers for training. Maintains certification for and serves as first responder on site during shift. Monitors or patrols work area and enforces safety and housekeeping policies. Assists in training new employees as needed. Performs other tasks as assigned by management.

 

What you have:

 

High School Diploma or GED equivalency required. One year of related experience and/or training. 1-3 years of supervisory experience 3+ years of automated manufacturing experience 1+ years of experience operating a forklift. Basic math skills Basic computer skills Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

 

What you’re good at:           

 

Good math skills, including the knowledge of arithmetic and its applications. Excellent time management skills, adequately managing one’s own time and the time of others within the department. Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with all levels of the organization, and the ability to motivate, develop and direct subordinates. Good written and oral communication skills Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Good computer skills

 What else?

 

This position requires the team member to work with machinery in an environment where there may be regular exposure to chemicals, noise from machinery, dust, fumes, and extreme temperatures. Other working conditions may include working long hours and flexible shifts, including holidays. Required safety equipment: steel toed shoes, ear plugs, gloves, and safety glasses. Must be able to lift to 50lbs.; bending, squatting, climbing ladders and stairs are required.
