Primary Function

Supervise the production of titanium material while ensuring the safety of employees, quality of product, and on-time delivery. Training and evaluating operators on assigned jobs, including machining operation. Manage personnel issues.

Knowledge Skill and Ability requirements

Prefer basic knowledge and understanding of hydraulics, pressure, vacuum, electrical. Prefer the individual to have knowledge of directing a work force in scheduling of work, scheduling of maintenance activities, and the ability to react in difficult situations.

Material and Equipment Used

All PPE to ensure job safety, computer, calculator, flashlight, operation and safety of small hand tools.

Accountability

Accountable for production employees and related melt shop equipment to produce all melted titanium; all material for in-specification ingots per heat record. Most importantly, the safety of employees and equipment, quality of product and on-time delivery.

Reports to the Superintendent (direct), Director of Operations (indirect).                                                 

The Production operators report directly to the supervisor / Maintenance employees (indirect).

Complexity and Difficulty

Scheduling of materials, equipment, and people to maintain operations and produce in-specification ingots at a scheduled rate (on time).

Education

BS degree, five or more years of melt experience in a similar industry preferred.   

Ability to schedule through-put in a timely manner.  Ability to react to various emergency situations both for safety, quality, and production requirements.

Experience

Minimum:  1 - 3 years of supervisory experience, preferably in a heavy industrial manufacturing environment; may consider lead person experience, preferably in a heavy industrial manufacturing environment.

Preferred:   3 - 5 years of supervisory experience in a heavy industrial manufacturing environment, 2-3 years’ departmental operations experience; SAP experience a plus.
