The role
As a Shiplift Electrical Specialist, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You will facilitate the smooth running of maintenance schedules within the Shiplift. 


Day-to-day, you’ll you’ll plan and lead maintenance programmes for the Shiplift. Support the Shiplift Electrical Manager with operational duties, stakeholder engagement and ensuring KPI’s are achieved. Further responsibilities will include:

Fulfil the role of Low Voltage Authorised Person. Assist the Shiplift Electrical Manager in maximising the utilisation and the efficiency of all the section’s electrical resource. Ensuring the Skilled Persons programme adhered to through task log books and certifications are in date.   Support all Out of Hours activities with an operational imperative in all areas of the Base, as directed by the Base Shift Manager/Control Engineer.  Interface with sub-contractors coming onsite, checking their certifications are in date and controlling their work through Safe Systems of Work (LOTO). Implement the Company Safety, Quality and Environmental policies in the Utilities area of the business ensuring that assessments of risks are carried out which lead to safe working attitudes and practices.  Scope and make safe defects as they occur and are reported in accordance with the contract.  Provide an initial assessment of the defect and reporting to the Facility Maintenance Manager’s with repair  

 

This role is full time, 42 hours per week and is based on site at Faslane.This role is in a 35-day shift rotation with a circa of 4 other Electrical Specialists as it requires 24/7 site coverage. Within that 35-day period, the basic coverage is 7 dayshifts and 7 nightshifts at 12hrs. Shift Pattern – 2-nightshifts, 9-days off, 3-nightshifts, 3-days off, 4-dayshifts, 2 days off, 2-nightshifts, 3 days off, 3-dayshifts then 4 days off then the cycle repeats. 

 

Essential experience of the Shiplift Electrical Specialist:
Experience in the following areas:

High Voltage and Low Voltage Systems and Equipment Maintenance Documentation Authorised Persons policies and procedures Safe Systems of Work Risk Assessments


Qualifications for the Shiplift Electrical Specialist:

HNC in Electrical Engineering or equivalent. Proof of completion within an Electrical Apprenticeship. 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS 7671). Emergency First Aid/Electric Shock training.  IOSH Managing Safely.
