Under the direction of the Shipping & Receiving Supervisor, the Shipper I will package and prepare domestic and international customer orders according to established procedures and applicable regulations. The Shipper I will also be responsible for receiving incoming shipments and fulfilling internal and external customer orders prior to shipment. The Shipper I will rotate through the three main areas of the shipping and receiving departments; shipping, order collecting, and receiving.

You will have an opportunity to:

Collect materials to fill shop and customer orders and place on shipper’s table

Check materials HMIS codes to determine proper safety equipment and packaging area

Perform cycle counts of material to ensure inventory accuracy

Ensure material collected corresponds with picking list, weigh material; check item number, lot number, chemical formula, purity, quantity, and ensure special packaging requirements are completed

Determine appropriate packaging according to carrier specifications and regulations

Prepare shipment following established procedures

Determine appropriate documentation and enter information into UPS/FED EX Software, Shipping Solutions, AXAPTA, and Microsoft Office

Follow the necessary Commodity requirements related to products’ Commodity Description, Schedule B Number, Value and Export Commodity Control Numbers

Apply the basic concepts regarding regulations affecting the shipments of chemicals internationally including:  U.S. Department of Commerce; Bureau of Industry and Security; U.S. Department of State; International Traffic in Arms Regulations; U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission; U.S. Department of Justice; Drug Enforcement Agency; and any other agency as required

Compare actual received goods against Axapta purchase order. Process packing slips to update Axapta as necessary per established deadlines to reflect actual receipt of goods in the system on a real time basis

Deliver goods/paperwork to proper departments after receipt transaction is completed

Unload receivables from trucks. Operate fork lift or hand truck to move shipments from loading dock to final destination

Offer and/or load outbound shipments to trucking companies

Follow all clean-up and housekeeping procedures.  Comply with all safety, quality, procedures and policies

Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum six months of related experience on domestic and international shipping of hazardous and non-hazardous goods

Ability to operate equipment to include hand truck, wrenches, scoops, funnels, computers and scales

Ability to operate various mechanical equipment such as pallet jacks, electric pallet jacks and certification forklift operation

Computer software knowledge of UPS, Fed Ex, Microsoft


 

The selection of the person to be hired for this position is contingent on the candidate having export compliance eligibility for access to U.S. controlled technology which comes under the licensing jurisdiction of the U.S. Department of State, International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and the U.S. Department of Commerce, Export Administration Regulations (EAR).
