Shipping and Receiving Manager

Manager, Shipping & Receiving 

  

LOCATION: Brass Mill Operating Center; Belcamp, MD 

REPORTS TO: Manager, Warehouse Operations 

 

The Shipping & Receiving Manager is responsible for overseeing warehouse activities including shipping, receiving, and cleaning.  This position will process shipment orders, monitor the packaging and labeling of completed orders, monitor in-bound orders, and evaluate the performance of carriers and shipment department employees.  Furthermore, this role will also support IPS operational objectives, physical inventory accuracy, and warehouse GMP compliance.  This role provides authentic/empathic leadership for the cleaning personnel and shipping/receiving associates. 

  

Core Responsibilities:

Operate and maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area following company policies and procedures.  Ensure employees follow all company policies and procedures, including safety, GMP, and PPE requirements 

Directly supervise Warehouse Personnel (Shipping and Receiving) and Cleaning Personnel. Ensure that daily activities are executed effectively and efficiently, while meeting service requirements and staying within budget. 

Approve payroll for hourly direct reports.  Monitor time punches for accuracy and adherence to attendance policy.  Address attendance points with employees through company procedures. 

Develop and coach employees in their current role and for additional roles. Create development plans and offer support, as needed. 

Spearhead all product shipping and distribution through SAP and directing daily warehousing and shipping/receiving operations. 

Order supplies and maintain inventory levels to support warehouse and BMOC general operations. Order supplies for external warehouse(s) and coordinate delivery of supplies. 

Oversee and support administration with invoice payment for Ingredion’s SSC 

Reconcile POs with invoices and complete monthly financial accruals, supporting department managers with SAP requests and ESKER invoice approvals. 

Report and enter maintenance notifications in ERP system for warehouse defects  

Measure and report on the effectiveness and productivity of warehousing activities (including sales order picking, shipping, etc.). Ensure flawless execution of all shipping, sales order fulfillment, and general warehouse activities 

Report shipping and receiving metrics in IPS and conduct investigations for deviations from standard 

Manage relationships with Operations and Corporate scheduling to ensure S&OP plan and site are aligned. 

Continually improve warehouse functions as it relates to overall organization, labor efficiency, safety culture, and adherence to GMP guidelines 

Develop and implement warehouse operations system improvements related to equipment utilization, shipping and receiving functions, and product storage 

Recommend warehouse design changes for layout, product flow, and product handling systems 

Evaluate and recommend new equipment.  

Ensure that policies and processes are followed for maintaining accurate physical inventory and managing waste costs.  Utilize SAP to monitor and address WM material issues, such as material in SCRAP or STAGING storage locations. 

Comply to shipping industry regulations and company policies 

Update warehouse slotting plan to maximize operational activities 

Directly supervise the preparation of all company shipments following proper company procedures.  Verify the accuracy of the orders and address any discrepancies immediately to ensure the complete accuracy of orders shipped to the customer 

Lead response to warehouse customer complaints.  Troubleshoot all receiving and shipping complaints to find the root cause, help resolve the issue, and prevent reoccurrence 

Support the return of authorized shipments to Belcamp warehouses and coordinate the redirection of shipments with carriers 

Develop and maintain departmental work instructions, making improvements as needed. 

Maintain accurate documentation and reports related to various company procedures and guidelines such as ISO compliance and other regulatory standards, such as Organic and Non-GMO Project Verified. 

Assist with Internal, 3rd party, customer, and regulatory audits. 

Train employees on safe forklift operation, as a certified forklift trainer.

Qualified candidates will have:  

A bachelor’s degree in business management, operations or supply chain. Equivalent combination of education and experience also considered 

Minimum 5 years of related experience in warehouse/logistics, inventory control and/or order fulfillment 

Supervisor experience required.  Relevant experience managing front line employees highly preferred 

Dedication to represent and support management with a high level of Professional Integrity and Operational Discipline. 

Forklift experience desired; if no experience, must be willing to learn and become certified 

Familiarity with SAP, TMS, and WMS systems preferred 

Familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and regulatory inspections (OSHA, EPA, FDA, ODA) preferred 

Strong interpersonal and project management skills

Pay Range:

$81,680.00-$108,906.67 Annual

This pay range is not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Final base salary will be determined based on several factors which may include but are not limited to responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data and applicable bargaining agreement (if any).

Incentive Compensation:

As a part of the total compensation package, this role may be eligible for the Ingredion Annual Incentive Plan or a role-specific commission/bonus.
