POSITION SUMMARY:

Responsible for coordinating the shipping of seed to customers and between other production locations.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Functional lead for route optimization software at the production location Work with Inventory and Quality coordinator on warehouse supply Constant upgrading of shipping strategy including review of the process with sales, sales support staff, and Logistics team Settle any customer / logistic disputes Ensure contacts with customers are compliant and present a positive image of our Brands Reports problems with customer service to the Location Manager Effectively utilize shipping programs to maximize resources and provide the highest quality service to customers Prepare pickers, shippers, and pallet sheets for the warehouse and provide the necessary paperwork to drivers Conduct root cause analysis and resolve customer service complaints related to shipping Monitor freight expenses and code bills for payment Scheduling of all trucking using outside carriers for customer delivery and interplant transfers Recruit new carriers and maintain good relations with existing drivers  Train all drivers to present the highest level of customer service and professionalism, and coach the drivers who fail to meet our expectations Recruit, manage, and train fleet of owner-operators for customer and non-customer deliveries Work with Logistics team to supplement carrier resources with broker services to reduce cost and add to service areas Manage doc log for warehouse Managing invoicing and payments from trucking companies Monitor and enforce driving policies Responsible for location pool vehicles Other duties as assigned

 

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

Associate Degree in Ag Business, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or related field preferred 5+ years of shipping and transportation experience preferred Experience in the seed production industry preferred

 

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

Ability to lead, train, develop staff and manage performance Excellent leadership, people management, and relationship/team-building skills Ability to work effectively as part of a team as well as individually Strong verbal and written communication skills Excellent organization and planning skills with strong attention to detail Problem-solving and continuous improvement mindset Strategic thinker and problem solver Ability to prioritize tasks in an organized way to meet deadlines. Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) Knowledge of supply chain management and logistics required Knowledge of Department of Transportation regulations desired

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Ability to lift up to 65 lbs. Ability to travel up to 5% with minimal overnight travel Ability to work required hours and shifts Must have valid driver’s license and meet MVR requirements
