Performs duties to insure the timely and proper movement of material in the warehouse to shipping locations to meet delivery deadlines. A shipping assistant is part of a team performing several functions necessary to maintain a well-organized shipping area in the finish goods.
Job ResponsibilitiesEssential Functions, Key Tasks, & Responsibilities: (include the following, other duties may be assigned)
o Process outgoing shipments.
o Accurately verify item and quantities against Delivery Note.
o Paperwork on products and quantities shipped.
o Maintain accurate control and location of stock movement.
o Accurate movement of stock between the warehouse and stocking locations.
o Oversee the loading and unloading of trucks.
o Clean and maintain supplies, tools, equipment, and storage areas in order to ensure compliance with safety regulations.
o Package, ship and receive orders via UPS, DHL, Federal Express, Airborne, conventional air and common LTL carriers.
o Available to work overtimes and weekends as needed by the business.

Education and/or Experience:
o High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
o Certified or licensed to operate material handling equipment i.e. like forklifts.
Preferred Qualifications:
o Computer experience
o Export compliance, planning and managing freight forwarders.
o 6 to 2 years shipping / warehouse experience

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
