The role will be hybrid but with a requirement to be in the office a minimum of three days a week or more according to the needs of the business. Job Specification

Department Overview:

The Shipping Finance team provides the full range of ING’s product suite to leading shipowners to assist with the acquisition of vessels but also to help them manage risk within their business. In addition we help them identify growth opportunities and support them in their transition to a net zero carbon future.

We provide debt financing facilities but also look to provide ancillary services in order to leverage returns; these include financial markets products (FX, interest rate and fuel hedging etc.), payments and cash management, corporate finance and debt capital markets. The London team cover the UK, southern Europe, and Middle East. The team has a market leading position and the dynamic role will provide exposure to commodity markets and macro-economic trends.

Main Duties and Responsibilities of Role:

To support the Team’s Directors in identifying new target clients and in addition grow the business with existing clients by identifying new opportunities and idea generation. Core responsibilities to include:

Assist with the ongoing management of client relationships, identification of potential new clients and monitoring of risk.

Desk top analysis using proprietary systems, 3rd party subscription services and publicly available information.

Preparation of marketing materials, pitch books etc.

Structuring and pricing of new loan facilities and preparation of indicative term sheets for approval by senior management

Preparation of commercial proposals for submission to relevant internal approval authorities including calculation of returns using the Bank's internal risk models.

Liaison with internal departments including Financial Markets, Capital Markets & Advisory, Transaction Services, Loan Distribution Group, Sustainability etc. to ensure full range of bank products are available to clients and returns are maximised.

Collaborate closely with the Transaction Management and Portfolio Management functions through the facility execution process and throughout the client lifecycle,

Management of the KYC requirement, ensuring timely onboarding and periodic review, in the UK and various international locations.

Where necessary contribute to internal projects to support the team’s satisfaction of both bank and regulator requirements.

You will be expected to co-operate and share best practice with the Bank’s other Shipping Finance Teams in Amsterdam, Frankfurt, New York and Singapore.

Preparation of internal and external presentations, including supporting research material.

Candidate Profile

Qualification/Education

Essential: Educated to degree level and good knowledge of accounting principles in order to be able to understand and interpret financial statements and build forward looking financial projections including P&L, balance sheet and cashflow statements

Desirable: CFA level I and upwards

Experience/Knowledge

Essential: Three to five years banking experience within a lending team.

Desirable: Knowledge of the shipping markets and a keen interest in macro economics

Self motivated and willing to work in a deal oriented and deadline driven environment and ability to multi-task.,

Numerate, good Excel skills, inquisitive mind and strong communication skills (written and oral).
