Shipping & Inventory Coordinator

Summary of position:

The Shipping & Inventory Coordinator supports Southern Minnesota Beet Sugar Cooperative (SMBSC) by serving as the super user for the Sugar Trax shipping system.  The S&IC helps SMBSC reach its mission by (1) monitoring and verifying Sugar Trax operations, (2) coordinating sugar shipments, and (3) performing tie outs to ensure proper reporting.

Essential Functions:

 Sugar Trax

Monitors and verifies operation of Sugar Trax; reports program issues to Sugar Warehouse Manager or the Information Systems Department Serves as the Sugar Trax super user; assists warehouse staff with corrections and training as needed; answers employee questions as needed Works with the shipping analysts to monitor sugar order progression; ensures orders are completed on time and to the customer’s specifications Monitors Sugar Trax information and performs checks of systems and data to reduce errors Completes shipping sheet within Sugar Trax to ensure proper data load into the Factory Manager software

Sugar Shipment Coordination

Coordinates all rail cars entering SMBSC property, which includes sugar and molasses as well as other necessary materials for operations such as coal Works with security to coordinate documents for proper transportation on and off the SMBSC site

Co-Products

Updates shipment information for Co-Products in Midwest Agri Commodities system I-connect Daily input of analysis for co-product shipments

Daily reconciliation of co-products shipped in I-connect and Fact Ops

Accounting responsibilities

Performs the daily, monthly, and yearly tie outs of SMBSC products; collaborates with accounting to ensure proper reporting Reviews customer and vendor invoices; clarifies and resolves discrepancies

 Core Competencies and Skill Requirements:

Broad understanding of accounting and inventory Knowledge of appropriate debits and credits Familiarity with auditing information to ensure accuracy Ability to perform mathematical computations such as adding, subtracting, multiplication, division, percentages, and fractions to quantify and report information Demonstrated critical thinking skills Ability to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems Excellent written and oral communication skills Ability to demonstrate superior interpersonal skills needed for working with a variety of knowledge levels including customers, customer service representatives, employees, and managers Ability to have a high attention to detail Proficient in Microsoft Office Ability to create and use macros, conditional lists, pivot tables, and look up functions to import, export, sort, and analyze data in Microsoft Excel Ability to create and edit documents in Microsoft Word Familiarity and comfort using Microsoft Outlook, Access, and PowerPoint Strong work ethic Ability to manage multiple priorities, produce excellent work results and follow through on commitments Ability to work independently and with a team in a fast-paced and high volume environment with emphasis on accuracy and timeliness Ability to work overtime as required Commitment to safety Ability to work in a responsible, safe manner by adhering to SMBSC’s safety protocol

 Required Education and Experience:

 Three to five years of accounting experience

Experience working in transportation, shipping, or logistics is preferred
