Overview

The primary purpose of this position is to effectively coordinate the shipment of finished goods to our customer base in a timely and accurate manner. This position should ensure that all procedures and quality checks are performed on completed orders before shipment.

What you will do:

Provide leadership direction to employees assigned to this area.Must effectively communicate with shipping team members.Ensure that shipping team members are working safely by enforcing safety rules and providing training when appropriate. This includes auditing safety procedures and protocols.Provide excellent training for new employees in all areas of the shipping department to include staging, prepping, scanning, material handling, and shipping.Display independent decision making and demonstrate leadership abilities and professional courtesy.Excellent decision-making while being highly productive under little supervision.Practice excellent housekeeping and organizational habits.Maintain excellent attendance and a flexible schedule.Must have in-depth knowledge of navigating and utilizing QAD (or similar ERP system) for all shipping, production, and inventory inquiries.Check material and packaging for proper quality ensuring that no freight leaves the dock that is not in good condition.Develop standard work procedures as needed for updated processes.Ensure that all freight procedures for the staging of freight, the scanning of completed orders, and the loading of completed orders are followed. Ensure that all outbound orders have a packing list and Bill of Lading.Work effectively with all supervisors, leads, and material handlers to resolve production problems.Provide excellent communication to other plants and departments when coordinating orders and materials.Communicate to Production Control when orders that are past performance dates do not ship.Handle all communication for invoicing questions and ensure that the proper paperwork is generated and sent for invoicing each day.Maintain at least 3 months of paperwork to ensure that orders may easily be tracked.Complete computer knowledge of the ship list, performance date, and other daily functions that apply to the communication of all orders within the shipping area.Must be fluent in Microsoft Office (MS word. Excel, Outlook).Effectively utilize 3PL to request pickups for TLs as well as LTL.

What you will need:

Preferably one year experience in manufacturing settingHS Diploma or GED preferredAble to pass a pre-employment background check and drug screen

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Able to learn products and process in a fast-paced environment. Standard knowledge of shipping best practices.Able to accurately take measurements using a tap measure and calipers.Able to perform repetitive hand, wrist, and are motions and capable of standing and getting off a forklift.Able to walk, stand, bend, twist, stoop, and lift approximately 35lbs.Ability to read, follow, and understand work instructions from both written and verbal sources.Able to effectively communicate orally and in writing.Excellent attendance recordCommitment to your team members, self-motivation, and accountability to safety & quality.

WORKING CONDITIONS/HAZARDS:

Exposed to a normal factory environment (wood dust) with no factors or hazards present to a disagreeable extent. Must be able to withstand heat in excess of 95 degrees.
