BWXT Canada Ltd., a leader in the nuclear energy industry, is seeking an experienced Shipping & Logistics Export Control Manager to join our Cambridge, ON team. This critical role is responsible for managing complex transportation and logistics operations, ensuring trade compliance, and leading a dedicated team to deliver high-quality solutions that support large-scale nuclear projects across North America and internationally. Reporting directly to the VP of Strategy and Business Services, this position works closely with business unit leaders and key departments across BWXT Canada, BWXT PMI, and BWXT NEC. You will oversee transportation and logistics activities from suppliers to job sites, manage specialized shipments of large-scale components, and ensure compliance with stringent government and nuclear industry regulations. Key Responsibilities: Logistics & Transportation Management + Lead the planning, execution, and optimization of transportation and logistics strategies for large nuclear components and materials, over land, rail, and sea. + Manage supplier and carrier relationships to ensure cost-effective and timely deliveries that meet project schedules and customer requirements. + Oversee shipping and receiving operations, including emergency deliveries and outage support, both domestically and internationally. Trade Compliance & Export Control + Ensure strict compliance with Canadian and international export/import laws, including nuclear non-proliferation equipment and technology regulations. + Coordinate with Legal, Engineering, Supply Chain, and contract teams to secure and maintain export and import licenses. + Interface with regulatory bodies such as the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC), Canadian Foreign Affairs (DFAIT), and Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA). Leadership & Team Management + Lead and develop a high-performing team, including a Customs & Compliance Coordinator and a Transportation Coordinator. + Promote a culture of safety and continuous improvement, ensuring compliance with Dangerous Goods transportation regulations and company policies. + Provide training and guidance on regulatory requirements, customs processes, and logistics best practices. Financial & Operational Oversight + Develop and manage logistics budgets, ensuring accurate freight costing and controlling expenses in line with project budgets. + Review and negotiate transportation contracts, manage risk, and develop contingency plans for complex logistical challenges. + Ensure accurate auditing of customs broker invoices and import entries, maximizing cost efficiencies. Qualifications & Experience: + 10+ years of progressive experience in transportation, logistics, and trade compliance, with a focus on large-scale project logistics. + Degree or diploma in Logistics, Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field. + Proven expertise in managing the transportation of oversized, high-value components over land, rail, and water. + Comprehensive knowledge of trade compliance regulations, free trade agreements, and duty/tax strategy. + Familiarity with nuclear industry regulations, including export/import licensing and dangerous goods shipping. + Strong leadership, negotiation, and problem-solving skills. + Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, with a focus on teamwork and customer service. + Safety certifications and knowledge of occupational health and transportation laws are considered assets. The base salary range for this position in [[Ontario]] at the start of employment is expected to be between $[[89,000]] and $[[139,000]] per year. However, the base salary offered is based on local job market factors and may vary further depending on factors specific to the selected job candidate, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as an annual cash incentive in addition to a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits.
