Job Description:
The Shipping & Receiving Clerk performs efficiently and collaboratively in assisting the Shipping/Receiving Manager by handling incoming and outgoing shipments. This position requires detailed and thoroughness, when receiving products or when packing books or merchandise for shipment. This could include creating shipping documents, print shipping labels and schedule pickups. It is required to provide a high standard of customer service when working with customers and vendors by phone, email, or in person. This position will actively compare purchase orders, manifests and invoices to verify accuracy. They will also confer and correspond with the Shipping and Receiving Manager to rectify problems, such as damages, shortages and nonconformance to specifications. Major focus will also be working in the inventory management system or ERP to compare pricing, cost and retail through communication with the buyer. The Shipping & Receiving Clerk is expected to prepare and pack returns for textbooks and trad orders and handle any issuing arising in shipping or inventory handling. They will be responsible for assisting with transporting daily outgoing and intermittent freight shipments to the loading dock and utilize manual hand trucks to transport shipments to the sales floor. During peak times they will assist with packing and preparing mail order and web order shipments to customers. They should be flexible and be able to assist with transporting merchandise to storage areas on and off-site by packaging, organizing by brand or category and lifting items as necessary by hand truck for large goods. This position will be responsible for staging and palletizing product in stockrooms and warehouses and perform light quality control to ensure products are going to the correct areas. The Shipping & Receiving Clerk will assist in generating shipping logs, create daily Freight, FedEx and USPS shipments and campus deliveries. Performs other duties as assigned by the Shipping & Receiving Manager.
Education and Experience
High school or equivalent.
Successful completion of training and exam to become certified to operate motorized pallet jack.
Must be well-organized and accurate.
Demonstrated ability to support a community of diverse perspectives and cultures in an inclusive environment.
