Job Description

 

Wheatland Tube, a division of Zekelamn Industries, seeks a Shipping Supervisor for our facility located in Rochelle, IL.  Reporting to the Senior Warehouse Manager, the Shipping Supervisor is responsible for shipping and warehouse operations including achieving on-time quality shipments to company customers through the safe, efficient and economical utilization of shipping materials and hourly personnel.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Coordinate the assignment of labor personnel to the corresponding jobs and tasks to meet warehouse/production goalsEnsure stacking and loading procedures are followed to prevent injury to personnel and damage to materialImplement warehouse projects and action plans to achieve production and shipping goalsSupervise and develop employees by training, cross-training, upgrading, evaluating, reviewing and discipliningDocument all injuries through lntelex and follow through on any corrective actionsWorks with Quality Control Department regarding quality issues and ensure customer and quality standards are met at time of shipment.Ensure a safe work environment for all employeesReports any process and equipment problems and take initiative with corrections and repairsCommunicate with sales as needed to generate improved performanceMonitor and direct cycle counts to maintain correct inventoryIdentify and implement continuous improvement initiatives whereby minimizing downtime and improving production/warehouse efficienciesBuild and maintain a positive work environment for warehouse/production personnelSupervise warehouse employees to ensure safe, efficient & effective operationAssignment of trucks to be loaded based on appointment time & truck arrival timeBuild & maintain a positive team oriented environment to improve quality & efficiencyMaintain daily operation reports & report any maintenance issues to superiors & shift to shiftEvalute employee performance objectively based upon job requirements & behavioral performance indicators & report back to superiorsRegular, full-time, predictable onsite attendance per the posted schedule is an essential function of this role.Lead and promote health and safety work practices as required by regulatory agencies and company policy

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

5+ years supervisory experience in a manufacturing/warehouse environmentSAP experience preferred but not requiredAbility to effectively communicate with all levels of staffAbility to take initiative, work independently and follow through on projectsMust be willing to work overtime and weekends as requiredStrong decision making, problem resolution, communication and organizational  time management  skills along with strong background  in preventative/predictive maintenance, lean manufacturing  and reliability engineering desired

Annual Pay Range: $71,000 - $124,000
