Shop Floor Supervisor - Code Marking / Deburr / Manual Machining

Our teams have repeatedly been recognized for outstanding performance by some of the most prestigious organizations in the world including The Boeing Company, Lockheed Martin, NASA & Northrop Grumman.   Shop Floor Supervisor - Code Marking / Deburr / Manual Machining Position Profile: The Machine Shop Supervisor is responsible for the supervision of all machine operations and overall production, maintenance, quality, and other production-related activities within the Code Marking, Deburring, and Manual Machining Department.  This role is responsible for all work orders that flow in and out of the Machine Shop Code Marking, Deburring, and Manual Machining Department. The Machine Shop Supervisor works closely with the Shop Leads to ensure all equipment, machines, fixtures, and tools are in good and proper working order.  This role is responsible for employee safety, quality performance, and attainment of all customer/company schedules productivity and cost effectiveness.     Responsibilities:   Manage direct employees to support operations like code marking, deburring, and manual machining. Review workload to determine if overtime is needed.  Weekend overtime must be approved by COB on Wednesdays Support quality functions. Generate NCR and perform RCCA in the respective areas. Must show an extreme attention to detail to ensure finishing operations perform successfully. Assure Tooling is ready and available for each operation Update actual vs. standard hours in BOO system. Manage shop metrics for the specific areas like utilization, overtime, and performance. Assure proper staffing for department. Daily Attendance and Time Card approvals. Vacation/sick time scheduling. Quarterly/Annual employee reviews within department. Cross-train within department to improve workflow. Promote team building Create and design new fixturing and best practices for continuous improvement. Possess math skills required to effectively and efficiently read, interpret documents (i.e., blueprints/technical drawings, operation/tool/set-up sheets, procedures, ECN’s, routers, etc.). Demonstrate effective verbal/written communication skills required for interacting with all levels of personnel within the organization. Knowledgeable in GT&D practices, inspection methods, effective utilization of measuring equipment/instruments, root cause investigations, troubleshooting, and performance metrics.  Consistently demonstrate commitment to company values, strategic plan and vision Attend / create daily meetings with department manager to discuss shop status, issues, etc. ( Run Daily Stand ups)     Minimum Required Qualifications: Associates degree in a technical field or a certification from a technical school 5+ years’ relevant experience in machine shop environment (aerospace or defense) involving set-up and operation of manual machines including conversational programming. 3+ years’ demonstrated experience with supervising in a machine shop setting. Proficient in the operation and troubleshooting of manual operations. Must have experience operating Bridgeport Knee mills as well as manual lathes like Hardinge’s. Strong experience in machining tolerances down to +/-.0005. Experience in Lean/Cellular manufacturing practices Familiar with AS9100 and ISO standards Excellent verbal/written communication skills required for multi-faceted interactions with all levels of personnel within the organization, as well as any and all outside agents, including but not limited to; vendors, suppliers, customers, potential job candidates, etc. Computer literate, with MS Office/PC expertise, and demonstrated experience with applicable systems, programs, equipment, etc. Must be a US Citizen   Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to conditions typical of a manufacturing/machine shop environment, including, but not limited to:  fluids, fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, noise and vibration This job interacts both in a professional office environment and a manufacturing/machine shop environment. This role uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines, as well as environments inclusive of the appropriate eye, hearing and foot protection (as required). Local and non-local travel is required for this position (15-20%)   Physical Requirements: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to see, talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms, and to use hands to finger, handle or feel The employee is frequently required to sit at length, stand, walk, and move about the facility. The employee may be required to lift and/or move items weighing up to 25 pounds Some filing is required.
