Position Description: The Heavy Equipment Shop Foreman at Adams Construction Company is responsible for the oversight of a heavy equipment maintenance facility to ensure heavy equipment machinery is operated, maintained, repaired, and transported on-time and within fair and reasonable cost. Working Conditions: + Primarily shop environment with heavy machines and equipment + Some outside work in outside working conditions Position Requirements and Responsibilities: + Management of equipment and leadership of the equipment repair and transport personnel. + Developing and maintaining preventive, predictive, and responsive maintenance systems. + Monitor CAPEX and non-CAPEX expenditures, repairs and maintenance, utilization and under-utilized equipment and all asset assignments. + Align efforts of Equipment shop towards vision and mission. + Provide support to Shop Mechanics to achieve departmental goals. + Monitor and manage procurement, refurbishment and repair, PM requirements, quality control of all equipment repairs to ensure established proper repair procedures are followed. + Review maintenance costs on a periodic basis. + Maintains regular contact with area, plant, and job site managers to ensure all equipment expectations are met, including traveling to various job sites, if required. + Solicit quotes for new and used equipment and work closely with Management on purchases. + Provide reports and/or updates on equipment repair functions. + Ensure proper licenses, permits and registrations for all rolling stock are completed timely and properly. + Maintain equipment yards and garage locations in a safe and first-class condition and properly dispose and document disposal of all hazardous materials. + Manage, recruit, and develop a highly skilled technician workforce. + Approve invoices, payroll, and charges to the equipment shop. + Actively promote safety in the repair and operation of equipment and the transport operation of the equipment. + Assign work to technicians. + Assist technicians with difficult diagnosis. + Coordinate special repair parts orders. + Monitor and ensure repair order quality. + Monitor the correct use of the time clock. + Maintain and control special tools. + Perform such other duties and functions as may be required from time to time. Skills: + Strong and previously demonstrated mechanical abilities + Strong leadership and analytic skills + Organize and prioritize workload + Effectively Communicate with all positions / Divisions of the Company + Exhibit honesty and trustworthiness + Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills + Proficient use of computer software, such as Word, Excel are a plus Education/Experience: + Mechanical background in equipment repair, rebuild or similarly related area + 15 or more years of work-related experience, with emphasis on Heavy Equipment (Yellow Iron) + 15 or more years of work-related experience with sizable vehicle fleets, dump trucks and road tractors are a plus + Prior experience in a field related repair capacity is a plus Work Environment/Physical Abilities: The physical abilities of this position require the employee to be able to frequently sit, stand, climb, low level work, reaching, bending, and trunk movements. May require carrying, pushing/pulling, dexterity of hands and fingers, seeing, hearing and talking. Lifting requirements may include up to 50 pounds.
