All local field technicians report to this position. This role reports directly to the General Manager of Ohio. Travel is not a core requirement for this role, minor travel will be required for training and/or helping a technician crew get set up on a project. This is not intended to be a traveling role. Essential Duties & Responsibilities This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management may deem necessary from time to time. + Direct shop personnel on a daily basis. + Review and approve time sheets of shop and field technicians. + Approve vacation schedules of assigned personnel. + Daily communication with field techs including after-hours phone calls. + Collectively with GM to perform personnel reviews, assessments, interviews, and terminations. + Enforce company policy and hold employees accountable for their quality and quantity of work. + Prepare and facilitate mock-ups for DW & CD projects as directed by PTL and PE. + Assist field technicians with mobilizations and demobilizations of equipment. + Perform routine maintenance and moderate repairs on all DW and CD equipment. + Assure all company vehicles and trailers are maintained to company and manufacture standards. + Work with PTL and Engineering to develop technician training requirements for new hires and project specific requirements. + Ensure new and existing employees are properly trained in the processes and methods required to achieve the company’s standards for quality, productivity, and safety. + Work with corporate training to develop and ensure proper training programs. + Responsible for overall shop cleanliness and maintain a safe, orderly, and clean work area. + Actively participate in establishing and driving 5s culture and standards. + TRACE Subject Matter Expert in OH for the management and tracking of equipment. + Provide feedback to improve programs, processes, tooling etc. + As required, participate in the evaluation and purchase of new capital equipment. + Manage purchasing of shop and field supplies, keeping detailed inventory of purchases. + Manage shipments and verify all outbound job shipments and inbound shipments are documented. + Work with corporate logistics to schedule deliveries of equipment and materials to job sites ensuring best means / cost of delivery. + Perform shop duties as directed and required. Requirements Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Education · High school diploma or GED/SHED, required · Journeyman or 2-year technical degree, preferred Experience & Skills Three to four years of progressively responsible related experience. Specifically, this position requires: + Know and understand all DW & CD equipment descriptions and functionality. + Experience with mechanical assembly or trades type environment. + Solid mechanical aptitude + Familiarity with diamond wire cutting equipment and operations. + Familiarity with diamond core drilling equipment and operations. + Ability to troubleshoot and resolve equipment problems and perform routine maintenance tasks. + Knowledge and understanding of the different types, applications, and sizes of diamond wire. + Basic computer-based skills, such as e-mail, outlook, Microsoft excel, word, etc. + Experience in low volume and high mix environment, preferred. + Experience in a job shop or field environment, preferred. + Experience machining, preferred. Language Skills Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, production schedules, purchase orders, maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write reports and correspondence. Ability to communicate effectively with customers, vendors and other employees of the organization. Mathematical Skills Ability to work with mathematical concepts such the fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as basic math, layout functions, fractions, decimals, angles, percentages and ratios. Reasoning Ability Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of specifications and information furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. + Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment + Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment + Ability to troubleshoot and solve problems using critical thinking skills + Ability to organize and manage priorities, meet deadlines, and expectations + Ability to follow through on projects from conception to completion. Physical Demands While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to do the following: + Occasionally talk or hear + Frequently sit, use hands to finger, handle, or touch objects, tools, or controls + Frequently stand and walk + Frequently climb ladders and stairs + Frequently stoop, kneel, bend or crouch + Frequently lift and/or move physical products (up to 50 lbs) + Frequently use portable hand power tools (angle grinder, drill, power hammer, etc.) + Respirator fit testing and use may be required + Specific vision abilities: include close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus Work Environment The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. These include forklift traffic, overhead cranes, machining, welding, fumes, airborne particles, moving of mechanical parts and moderate noise. The work is performed indoors in a shop environment or a customer site both indoors and outdoors. Will spend a minimal amount of time outdoors in hot, cold, or otherwise inclement weather during part of the workweek.
