Shop Service Mechanic
**Job Title: Shop Service Mechanic** **Job Description** Diagnose, service, and repair various systems found on pieces of heavy equipment such as mechanical and computer electronic controls, transmissions, computer-controlled automatic transmissions, and pneumatic systems. Troubleshoot malfunctions in the equipment and repair them. Repair and service track drive sprockets, rails, idler wheels, hand bars, track adjusters, hydraulic, reversers, final drives, brake bands, steering clutches, and hydrostatic transmissions. Service, diagnose, repair, and maintain speed tandem drive axles with air or electric shift, hydrostatic driven, heavy-duty multi-axle suspensions. Tune diesel engines, service valves, fuel filters, and turbochargers, and pressure check fuel filters, adjust injector heights, fuel racks, governors, etc. Diagnose problems, disassemble units, repair or replace parts, and reassemble units in the cooling, drive, brake, electrical, steering, heating, and air conditioning, hydraulic and air systems. Overhaul engines, replace engines, and rebuild components. Keep tools, equipment, and work area clean, organized, and in good working condition. May assist in training lower-level workers in mechanical repair techniques. Perform related work as assigned. **Responsibilities** + Diagnose, service, and repair heavy equipment systems. + Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and perform necessary repairs. + Repair and service various heavy equipment components such as track drive sprockets, rails, and idler wheels. + Maintain and repair speed tandem drive axles with air or electric shift, hydrostatic driven, heavy-duty multi-axle suspensions. + Tune diesel engines, service valves, fuel filters, and turbochargers. + Diagnose and repair problems in cooling, drive, brake, electrical, steering, heating, air conditioning, hydraulic, and air systems. + Overhaul and replace engines, rebuild components. + Maintain a clean and organized work area. + Assist in training lower-level workers in mechanical repair techniques. + Perform related tasks as assigned. **Essential Skills** + Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing heavy equipment systems. + Strong troubleshooting skills. + Expertise in using hand tools, mechanized tools, jacks, and hoists. + Ability to read manuals and schematics. + Experience in rebuilding engines and major driveline components. + Knowledge of standard practices, materials, tools, and equipment used in machinery and engine repair. + Ability to use diagnostic testing and tuning equipment. + Proficiency in gas and electric welding equipment. + Skilled in reading hydraulic and electrical schematics. **Additional Skills & Qualifications** + Experience as a Shop Mechanic or Mobile Mechanic. + Knowledge of hydraulic systems, construction equipment, and heavy equipment such as backhoes and excavators. **Why Work Here?** Great benefits when going direct.
