Here’s the scoop - Summary

As a Shopper Manager for Champion Petfoods and its brands, ORIJEN and ACANA, you will play a crucial role in driving sales and brand visibility by developing and implementing effective shopper marketing strategies. This role requires a deep understanding of consumer behavior and market trends and the ability to collaborate cross-functionally with various teams, including sales, brand, product development, and brand experience. The primary focus will be creating a positive shopping experience for pet owners and influencing their purchasing decisions through innovative and targeted initiatives while developing and executing customized marketing programs with key accounts and independent dealers in the US. Proven experience in various marketing functions, including demand generation, digital marketing, online and traditional marketing, and the ability to work cross-functionally is required.

This role works a hybrid schedule from home and out of our corporate office in Louisville, CO, and reports to the Retail Marketing Manager.

What a typical day looks like

Shopper and Key Account Marketing Strategy

Develop and execute 360 shopper marketing plans and strategies for national and regional key accounts in partnership with the sales team, enhancing ORIJEN and ACANA in-store and online visibility and appeal that support driving sell through. Collaborate with the brand team to align shopper initiatives with overall brand objectives. Establish and maintain strong relationships with retailers, agencies, and other partners to enhance collaboration and execution of shopper programs. Collaborate on development and execution of dedicated retailer program to boost advocacy and recommendation of CPF brands by offering tailored incentives and support to retailers, fostering stronger brand connections and market penetration.

Consumer Insights

Work with the Insights team to understand consumer behaviors, preferences, and trends within the pet food industry. Utilize consumer insights to develop targeted shopper programs that resonate with the target audience.

In-Store Merchandising

Partner with the brand experience team on development and execution of effective in-store merchandising displays and marketing campaigns to maximize product visibility and drive sales, including briefing asset creation and management. Work closely with the sales team to build data-driven business cases for prime shelf placements and end-cap display.

Promotional Campaigns

Work with the sales team to plan and execute promotional campaigns, discounts, and loyalty programs to incentivize pet owners and increase brand loyalty. Partner with the sales and operations team to execute coupons into in-store and packaging executions. Analyze the effectiveness of promotions and adjust strategies based on performance metrics.

Data Analysis

Utilize data analytics to assess the impact of shopper marketing initiatives on sales and brand performance at the retail level. Provide regular reports and insights to management on key performance indicators.

Budget Management

Manage budgets effectively, ensuring optimal allocation of resources to achieve maximum ROI with timely and accurate reporting.

What you'll bring

Bachelor’s degree 7+ years of experience in CPG marketing, including 4+ years in shopper marketing or key account management. Prior experience working with national, regional, and independent retailers, with a successful track record of building and executing marketing strategies to grow regional sales volume and margin. Proven experience in various marketing functions, including merchandising, demand generation, digital marketing, and online and traditional marketing. Demonstrated ability to drive revenue through highly effective and creative marketing with measured ROI. Exceptional interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to build productive working relationships with internal and external partners, including brand, sales, distributors, retailers, and key accounts. Hands-on knowledge of consumer demand reporting software such as Nielsen. Analyze the marketing funnel, channel mix, and customer segmentation to formulate ideas and approaches to optimize cost-effective ways to increase awareness and drive trial and lifetime consumer demand. Ability to distill complex marketing efforts to present outcomes to internal and external stakeholders. Be a role model of Champion’s culture and core values of teamwork, responsibility, authenticity, innovation, and leadership Travel for retailer and company meetings/ events – 25% Location: The Denver metro area is preferred, but remote applicants located within the US will be considered
