This position will produce content specific to shopping deals and trends – such as Walmart TV specials and UGG boots discounted at Nordstrom -- as well as provide recommendations across a range of product categories and verticals, including fashion, electronics, home, lifestyle, pets and more. When readers click on links and make a purchase, they're supporting our journalism. Ideal candidates will have a strong understanding of SEO and a business mindset geared toward driving significant and sustainable revenue and audience through best journalistic practices. You should be comfortable optimizing all shopping content for SEO and conversion, analyzing past content, what performed well for other markets and making recommendations for future stories. We want a writer who is motivated and excited at the thought of growing a brand as well as expanding their journalistic skillset. The ideal candidate will be passionate about shopping across every category – from sourcing the best deals to tracking new trends that our readers will be excited to shop. In addition to writing articles daily, this position involves daily role tracking of key metrics to ensure content is performing to goal. We are looking for candidates who are highly competitive, detail-oriented and want to be part of an innovative team. The team also includes an Entertainment Commerce Writer dedicated to streaming TV shows and concert tickets and a Sports Commerce writer. The base salary range is $50,000 to $60,000 per year. **You should apply if you have:** + Interest in commerce and affiliate marketing or revenue generating initiatives + A passion for informing readers, building audiences and generating revenue + Familiarity with SEO best practices + Ability to generate clean copy and to present information clearly and quickly. College-level writing experience preferred + A passion for digesting and analyzing data and understanding audience metrics + The ability to work independently and prioritize appropriately + A competitive nature and mindset + Strong organizational skills and poise to handle multiple tasks at once + Ability to work flexible schedules, including nights, weekends and holidays, as needed. + This job requires reliable transportation to meet with sources and cover events. **Required education, experience and skills** + Degree in Journalism, English or communications, or related field preferred, or a combination of equivalent education and experience + Minimum 2 years’ journalism experience ideally in e-commerce or affiliate revenue content writing + Some experience building, maintaining and engaging an active audience + Proven reporting, writing and organizational skills + Strong competitive nature, wanting to win each day. Outlets around the country are doing the same articles and details like immaculate SEO and detailed background about products will distinguish you from the pack. + Ability to research and analyze preferred online vendors, SEO, performance of posts and most sought-after e-commerce opportunities and products. + Demonstrated organizational skills and being a planner. + Solid understanding of news writing, journalism ethics and story structure + Experience with search engine optimization practices + Experience using social media to source and promote content + Demonstrated capability in capitalizing on high-value topics by engaging audiences in frequency and urgency + Ability to prioritize tasks, work independently under deadline pressure and remotely part of the week. We are currently in the office 10 hours a week and work remotely the other 30 hours. + This position is based in Northeast Ohio.
