POSITION DESCRIPTION: The Environmental Spreader Operator works with the environmental crew in his or her area, and possibly other areas, to ensure that all manure from the layer and pullet houses is removed and spread in a timely/efficient manner. General duties will vary from day to day but the primary task will be to operate a manure spreader safely and efficiently in order to properly meet the nutrient requirements of the field and/or requirements set by management. The operator will be responsible for the proper maintenance and repair of said spreader and related equipment. When not spreading, the operator will be required to assist the environmental crew in whatever way is deemed necessary by management. This can and will involve cleaning manure out of houses and barns, making repairs to equipment, and helping with all excavation/maintenance projects all while operating loaders, skid steers, crawler loaders, dozers, and other excavation equipment.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Removing and distributing manure from the houses.Reading and navigating field maps.Learning and operating different technologies used in fertilizer applications.Properly operating and maintaining manure spreaders, forklifts, skid loaders, crawler loaders, front-end loaders, and other excavation equipment in a safe and efficient manner.Maintaining and cleaning of haul-out equipment and trucks.Keeping accurate paperwork record requirements.QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
Must hold a valid driver’s license.Must hold, or be willing to quickly obtain, a Category 14 license issued by the OISC.Capable of performing job functions related to waste removal – including moving and operating equipment, cleaning areas, etc.Capable of cleaning out equipment at the end of the day – basic sanitation of equipment, trucks, tools, etc.Capable of filling out basic paperwork (hauling statements, tonnage, bill of lading, reports).Capable of working a flexible schedule - including some weekend work, overtime work, and occasional holidays at management’s discretion.Capable of lifting items weighing 50 lbs or more.Ability to speak, read, and understand Basic English.WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Must possess the ability to work in an agricultural environment, indoors, outdoors, office, warehouse, processing, and farm production areas each varying in temperature, and other environment specific atmospheres.Must be willing and able to work past the scheduled leave time to complete the job, if needed.Must possess the ability to work in an open office setting.Must maintain professionalism with coworkers.ANIMAL WELFARE COMMITMENT:
