Simulation Specialist - Women's Guild Simulation Center - Full-Time

The Simulation Specialist is the key technical position within the simulation program providing expertise in programming Human Patient Simulators, advising educators on appropriate educational technology and troubleshooting nonfunctioning equipment. The Sim Specialist provides expertise in the operation of Virtual Reality Simulators and various Hepatic Feedback Systems and ensures clinical environments are prepared for use and functional to meet agreed educational goals.

What are the Primary Duties and Responsibilities?

Programs, tests, adapts Simulators using simulator specific programs ensuring simulators are set up for teaching sessions.Provides technical expertise to simulation educators and troubleshoots specialized simulation equipment including Virtual Reality Simulation Systems as well as digital cameras, video cameras, audio/video, monitors, and other relevant equipment to ensure technical functionality for all of Simulation Center.Provides oversight and support for Simulation Assistants with setting up and taking down clinical environments using detailed pre-course simulation setup procedures as neededDevelops and designs training devices and provides mock training for clinical educators. Instructs faculty and staff in the operational aspects of simulation. Leads technology education for staff, faculty, and simulation program learners.Participates in event and scenario planning meetings to providing leadership and technical expertise on equipment and simulators to meet educational needs.Provides tours of and participates in events providing exposure for the Simulation Center and its programs.Identifies, evaluates and advises management and educators on new technology and educational opportunities which will support current and future educational needs.Participates in in-house and community based simulation educational activities by providing teaching and training to various learners. Engages in additional external events and conferences to share information and best practices.Performs Resuscitation Assessment for clinicians to ensure appropriate equipment is functioning for specific examinations during simulation.Install software and hardware upgrades and maintains functionality of simulation equipment as directed by manufacturer.Participates in Simulation education activities playing roles described by education team as needed.Cleans complex training equipment ensuring optimal performance.Conducts room checks prior to use to ensure educational environment is appropriately prepared & ready for the Sim Assistant. May conduct configuration of specific equipment as needed.
Qualifications

Education, Experience & License/Certification Requirements:

High School Diploma / GED required. Bachelor's Degree in Health Sciences, Technology, Nursing, Respiratory Therapy, Paramedic, or related field preferred.Two (2) years of experience within a Simulation environment including technical experience with audio/visual equipment and software required.Certified Healthcare Simulation Operations Specialist preferred upon hire
