Simulation Technician, Graduate Medical Education (GME)-Full Time Days

Job Summary:

The Simulation Technician in Graduate Medical Education (GME) provides technical support for simulation-based training and education for medical residents, fellows, and healthcare professionals. This position involves the setup, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of simulation equipment and environments used for medical education. The Simulation Technician collaborates with faculty, residents, and other healthcare professionals to ensure the smooth operation of simulation sessions and enhances the educational experience.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

Prepares and sets up simulation equipment, manikin, task trainers, and audiovisual systems for training sessions.Operates and monitors simulation scenarios during training exercises, ensuring smooth execution and timely responses.Troubleshoots and resolves technical issues with simulation equipment, including manikins, computers, and software, during live simulations.

Simulation Lab Maintenance

Performs routine maintenance and cleaning of simulation equipment and spaces to ensure optimal performance.Conducts regular calibration, software updates, and repairs of simulation equipment and mannequins.Maintains an inventory of simulation materials, supplies, and equipment, and order replacements as necessary.

Educational Support:

Assists in the development and implementation of simulation-based training scenarios, collaborating with faculty and program directors.Provides technical support during simulation-based learning activities, including debriefings and assessments.Ensures that simulation sessions are aligned with educational objectives and meet accreditation standards.

Technical Assistance:  

Offers training and support to faculty, residents, and fellows on the use of simulation equipment and technology.Acts as a liaison between GME office, faculty, and other departments to support the educational goals of simulation-based training.Assists with developing instructional materials and guides for simulation-based exercises.

Data Collecting and Reporting:

Supports the collection of data from simulation activities, including performance metrics and participant feedback.Assists with tracking and reporting on the use of simulation labs, equipment, and resources.Helps with the preparation of reports for accreditation purposes and continuous program improvement.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

High School Diploma or GED, required.Associate’s or degree in healthcare, technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience, preferred.EMT or paramedic certification, preferred.Experience in medical simulation, technology support, or healthcare-related technical fields is preferred.Familiarity with simulation software and systems (e.g., Laerdal, SimMan, CAE, etc.), preferred.Proficiency in operating and troubleshooting medical simulation technology, manikins, and audiovisual equipment.Certification or formal training in medical simulation or simulation technology, preferred.Knowledge of medical terminology and clinical procedures is a plus.Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.Excellent organizational and time management skills, with attention to detail.Effective communication and interpersonal skills to work with faculty, staff, and residents.Previous experience in a healthcare or academic setting, preferably in a simulation role.
