HDR is currently seeking a Site Civil Engineer-In-Training (EIT) for our Building Engineering ServicesBusiness Group located in Denver, CO. Our team is an integrated facility and infrastructure design team consisting of core services of Mechanical, Electrical, Structural and Site Civil Engineering. This person will be contributing to the design of facility-related sites in support of a variety of markets including Corporate/Commercial, Healthcare, Education, Municipal, Civic, Industrial, Sports Recreation, and Mission Critical buildings and infrastructure. They will be expected to coordinate and work closely with a multidiscipline design team throughout the entire life cycle of projects from planning stages, through the development of construction documents, and construction administration. Coursework experience in land development and the design of building related site civil (grading, utilities, storm drainage, stormwater management, and erosion control) is required. This individual should be self-motivated, collaborative, and possess strong communication skills with an initiative to deliver high quality, technically sound designs.
In the role of Site Civil EIT we'll count on you to:
Contribute to the development of civil engineering scope of work and budgets for proposalsCoordinate with internal and external resources to complete all due diligence research and documentationDevelop concept site layouts that are compliant with all Jurisdictional requirements and supportthe Pre-Application processCoordinate with the Authority Having Jurisdiction to determine design and submittalrequirements and coordinate design solutionsAssist with community outreach as defined within the scope of a projectAttend and contribute to client meetingsTransition the concept plans through the schematic and construction design processesCoordinate with subconsultants for support and design servicesDesign and produce plan sets, details, specifications, and cost estimatesPerform calculations in support of the site development (stormwater pond sizing, culvert and pipecapacity analysis, hydrology calcs, etc.)Author reports that are technically sound, grammatically correct, and well organizedCollaborate with team engineers to determine the best course of actionBe independent in your pursuit for information and solutionsManage your time and organization of multiple tasks/projectsCommunicate effectively with managers and team membersPursue efficiencies within your work and operationsMentor junior staff and delegate appropriate tasksBe an advocate for HDR, the BES Business Group, and the Site Civil teamPerform other tasks that support the mission and vision of HDR and the BES Business GroupPreferred Qualifications
Engineer in Training (EIT) certificate.Candidates hired without their EIT will have the title of "Coordinator" and will be expected to obtain their EIT for career progression.Working knowledge of AutoCAD/Civil 3D with the drive to learn moreFamiliarity with MicroStation and/or AutoCAD, familiarity and demonstrated experience with civil engineering software such as Bentley ConceptStation and/or Autodesk Infraworks and Civil 3D; specialty civil platforms (e.g., Openflows) as requiredPrevious experience with an architectural/engineering firm in land developmentPreference given to local candidatesRequired QualificationsBachelor's degree in Civil or Structural EngineeringAn attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
