Site Engineer - Drill and Grout

The Future Generation Joint Venture brings together the combined engineering experience and expertise of WeBuild, Clough and Lane and has been selected to design construct Snowy 2.0. This project is based within the Snowy Mountains in NSW and will deliver one of the largest pumped hydro schemes in the world. 

Snowy 2.0 is the next chapter in the Snowy Scheme's history. It is the largest committed renewable energy project in Australia and will provide on-demand energy and large-scale storage for many generations to come. This Iconic Project has and will continue to create its own legacy in Australian history.

Purpose of the Role:

This role is responsible for overseeing and managing the grouting & backfilling operations as part of the Snowy 2.0 project.  The role focuses on coordinating and optimising critical activities while ensuring efficient spoil management and ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations, the effective management of the team and collaboration with project stakeholders to achieve successful spoil management.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree or similar in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or a related field. White Card.

Experience:

Minimum 2 years of experience as a site engineer, preferably within the construction industry. Scheduling and coordination of underground drilling & grouting activities with the site team. Proven experience in grouting inside tunnels, preferably in the Powerhouse Complex. Proficiency in relevant software and tools for design and analysis (GIN Curves method with Jean Lutz or Geomisure system). Strong understanding of soil mechanics, geology, and groundwater behaviour. Have experience in drainage and/or core drilling and/or different types of consolidation at low and high pressure (e.g. Contact grout, Consolidation grout, Impermeabilisation grout, Water tests). Have a good knowledge of equipment (Drill Rigs, Injection Pumps, Packers, ETC).

Required Competencies:  

 

Proficiency in coordinating with cross-functional teams, including geotechnical engineers, plant and equipment team, and environmental specialists. Provide technical expertise and guidance to resolve any grouting and lining-related issues that may arise during construction. Effective written and verbal communication skills to liaise with on-site teams and report progress. Knowledge of geotechnical engineering principles and spoil management. Strong Initiative and proactive nature. Key collaborative skills. Well-developed time management skills. High attention to detail. Exceptional knowledge and ability in the use of the Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.

 

Core Accountabilities and Responsibilities:

Scheduling and coordination of activities with the site team. Educate regarding the relevant Australian Standards and project specifications applicable for electrical design review process. Introduction to risk assessment workshops, safety in design, safety work method statements and job hazard analysis assessments. Understand the quality management process and introduction to various permit systems for drilling and grouting and operation.
