Are you ready to lead with passion and take your career to the next level? We have an incredible opportunity for a dynamic Café Site Manager to oversee operations at one of the most exciting and high-profile headquarters in North Sydney. As the face of our on-site team, you’ll dive into the fast-paced world of events management, while also leading the day-to-day operations—whether it’s the kitchen, facilities, or driving a vibrant, energetic team culture.
This role is more than just operations, you’ll be the critical link between our client’s team and the wider Downer business, building exceptional relationships that will enhance the overall service experience. Your ability to connect with and understand the needs of the client is essential—you’ll work side by side with them to ensure every detail is met, all while embodying Downer’s values and commitment to excellence.
What you’ll do
The role has a broad remit, with key responsibilities outlined below:
Plan, coordinate, and support the team in delivering key client functions and events to a high standard. Work closely with the head chef to prepare and plan for functions as well as daily lunch menus, ensuring high-quality meals are delivered. Manage, coordinate, and motivate a dynamic, high-performing team. This includes managing staff rosters, ensuring effective team collaboration, and fostering a positive, engaging team culture. Serve as Downer’s main representative to the client, providing exceptional customer service, gathering and delivering client feedback to enhance service. Maintain high service standards across all site operations, including catering, events, and facilities management. Prepare monthly reports on site performance and costs, providing insights and transparency to both the client and Downer leadership.What you’ll bring
Experience in event management, hospitality, or café/restaurant operations, with the ability to plan and execute functions at a high standard. Leadership and team management skills, with a track record of building and motivating dynamic, high-performing teams. Experience working with kitchen teams or chefs to coordinate daily menus and event catering, ensuring quality and efficiency. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to build strong client relationships. Organisational and multitasking skills, with experience managing day-to-day operations, including rostering and facilities management. Prepare and analyse monthly performance and cost reports. A commitment to maintaining high standards in service delivery, health and safety, and overall site performance.More than anything, you’ll have a strong work ethic, a positive attitude, and a drive to provide high quality outcomes for the Social Infrastructure and Citizen Services business unit and our clients.
