What You’ll Do
As a Site Manager, you will deliver Dyno Nobel’s non-negotiable Zero Harm safety program as well as the company’s financial objectives. You will manage employees, equipment, maintenance, site infrastructure and cash fixed costs (CFC’s) through daily production scheduling, workforce optimization, equipment optimization, customer, and technical support, with a focus on blast optimization. Other duties will include:
Ensure that company policies, safe work practices, hazard analysis, and standard operating procedures are up-to-date and followed by the employees. Compile blast reports (paper and electronic) Assist with blast site hazard assessments to ensure the blast site is a safe work environment for all involved. Communicate all relevant information to the blast crew, including a review of the hazard assessment through the safety tailgate meeting. Ensure that all equipment to be used in that operation is in good operating condition and maintenance systems /schedules followed. Ensure that all regulations, both federally (TDG, Explosives Act, Bulk Regulations, WHIMIS) and provincially (Blasting Safety and OH&S Regulations) are adhered to within the operation with regards to personnel workings, product storage, and product transportation. Prepare and submit proper paperwork to document expenses, quantify preventative maintenance and understand finances to maintain proper records for cost control. Direct project support resources to ensure continuous improvement in shifting culture to achieve Dyno Nobel operational standards. Recruit, train and develop new employees into team and ensure their effectiveness in safely executing job activities. Direct and coordinate site operational resources to ensure customer demands are met. Understand and enhance service requirements to continually improve customer profitability.
What We’re Looking For:
Bachelor degree or equivalent. Additional directly related work experience may be substituted for some of the educational requirements. 8+ years working experience in the explosives or mining industry Proven experience with people management including leadership, performance management and coaching Proven experience and familiarity with bulk truck delivery and on-bench blasting operations Strong understanding and acceptance of responsibility for compliance to relevant MSHA, OSHA, ATF, DOT, EPA and local regulations. Must be willing to undergo and pass an ATF background check as required to be a possessor of explosives. Possess a valid driver’s license. Positive attitude, friendly demeanor, and a team player
