Akima Infrastructure Services, LLC (AIS), is actively seeking a Site Operations Mechanical Technician as part of our staff augmentation team supporting the Department of Energy at National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL).
Successful candidates will be employees of AIS, a premier government contractor charged with employing highly motivated and well-qualified personnel who can advance the missions of the National Renewable Energy Laboratory located in Golden, CO. Though employed by AIS, the employee will take day-to-day direction from technical personnel employed directly by the research laboratory. Pay, benefits, Human Resource, and Employment Management functions are provided by AIS.

Responsibilities
The Site Operations Mechanical Technician under general supervision performs inspections, maintenance and repairs on eyewash/shower combination units on all NREL campuses in Colorado, including the main South Table Mountain Campus, the Flatirons Campus (Wind Site) and the NREL Golden Warehouse located approximately 6 miles from the main campus.
Performs inspections, maintenance, and repairs on eyewash/shower/combination units.
Assists with hosting Subcontractors and inspect quality of work and ensure safety regulations are followed.
Maintains technical repair notes based on service solutions and share these with team members
Maintains a valid driver’s license.
Maintains service reports, inspection reports, and other documentation.
Maintains service tools and equipment.
Troubleshoot and diagnoses difficult, infrequent problems with eyewash/shower/combination units.
Strong organizational skills and ability to problem solve.
Works as a self-motivated individual with minimal supervision.
Displays an excellent level of commitment, follow up, and communication.
Completes work promptly with demonstrated attention to detail and accuracy.
Follows all ESHQ policies and procedures to ensure and maintain a safe working environment
Qualifications
High School degree plus 3 - 5 years relevant experience
Requires general knowledge and understanding of associated equipment, processes, or systems
Valid Colorado driver’s license
Must be able to obtain NREL site security access
Special Requirements:
Pre-employment Drug Screen - External applicants selected for this position are required to successfully complete a post-offer, pre-employment drug test.
Medical Exam(s) - Job related pre-placement medical examinations may be required for this position.
This position may require the ability to obtain and maintain a clearance from the Department of Energy. If determined as such, this position would be identified as a Workplace Substance Abuse Program (WSAP) testing designated position. WSAP positions require participation in an ongoing random drug testing program in addition to the pre-employment drug screen.
The selected candidate will be required to work on-site 40 hours per week between the hours of 8 AM – 5 PM Mountain Time, Monday-Friday unless otherwise directed by NREL. Actual time may vary depending on workload requirements. Job duration is projected to be a 12-month period of performance with potential for a 12-month extension.
Pay Range
$35.00 - $40.00 per hour
