Site Reliability Engineer

Modern Technology Solutions, Inc. (MTSI) is seeking a Site Reliability Engineer (Senior) to support the US Space Force Space Systems Command Rapid Reaction Branch.  The Site Reliability Engineer is responsible for managing laboratory network assets for development and testing efforts located in Colorado Springs, CO.

Responsibilities:

As a Site Reliability Engineer (Senior) with MTSI, you will manage laboratory network assets for development and testing efforts located in Colorado Springs, CO.

Your essential job functions will include but may not be limited to:

Maintain Development LAN services including Confluence, Jira, GitLab, and Artifactory.Manage user accounts across Linux-based DevLAN.Maintain, update, and secure services running on DevLAN.Create scripts to assist with system/network administration.Ensure periodic backups are being performed correctly.Enforce network security practices.Perform periodic updates to Linux distro.Maintain network and switch security.Manage lab resources across multiple different projects and changing priorities.Work with software developers to ensure clear tasking to achieve project goals.Ensure approved RMF procedures are being complied with.

Qualifications:

Minimum of ten (10) years’ experience in Linux system and network administration.Strong planning and organizational skills.Experience with cloud migration solutions.Scripting using Bash, Python, etc.Ability to manage GitLab, Confluence, Jira, and Artifactory.Experience with Git repositories and GitLab.Experience with Docker, Docker compose, and Docker registries.Strong background in networking to include configuration of switch/router port security and VLANs.Demonstrated ability to understand enterprise level systems.Demonstrated ability to shift from one project to another in a dynamic work environment.Desired Experience:Strong problem-solving skills.Competence in software system design.Familiarity with SQL and database design.Familiarity with Nginx and proxies.Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code (IaC) tools (e.g. Ansible).Management of Virtual Machines, VM Ware, and Virtual Box.Familiarity with RMF compliance processes and implementation.Strong motivation to expand knowledge and skills.Ability to approach classical problems with new ideas and innovation.Education Requirement:Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Engineering.Travel Requirements:This position will require overnight travel up to 10% of the time.Trip durations may range from overnight to several weeks.Clearance Requirements:Active Top Secret with Sensitive Comparted Information (SCI) eligibility.U.S. Citizenship is required for this position.

The pay range for this position in Colorado is $120,000/year to $160,000/year; however, base pay offered may vary depending on established government contract wages, job- related knowledge, skills, and experience, and other factors. MTSI also offers a full range of medical, financial, and other benefits, dependent on the position offered. Base pay information is based on market location.
