TriMet is seeking an experienced, dynamic Site Reliability Engineer (SRE/DevOps) to join our team with the following experience:
o Developer Tools and Platform Support: Puppet, GitLab, Linux / OS just for platform support
o Power Users of Infrastructure: Compute, Storage, Network, Load Balancing, AWS / Cloud, Security Tooling
o Knowledgeable of Software Development
This role is responsible for managing the non-functional and functional requirements of software projects by defining optimal software system architecture and selecting optimal technology to solve business problems. The engineer considers factors such as performance, scalability, availability, and security as well as characteristics such as audit, extensibility, internationalization and localization in the design. The engineer introduces structure, guidelines, principles, and leadership to the technical aspects of the software projects. This position provides technical leadership, coaching and mentoring on IT software projects, facilitates code reviews and recommends as well as maintain development standards. As well as being responsible for full life cycle of software development in both web based and non web based environments: design, code, test, deploy, document and maintain application software. And facilitates meetings as needed with the customers and other IT staff to contribute to solution analysis as well as gathering requirements and ensuring projects development goals are on-track.
This role requires being onsite a minimum of three (3) days per week in Portland, Oregon.

Essential Functions
+ Develops, supports and maintains high-quality, efficient, and reliable software solutions, both custom and/or commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) software, by analyzing information needs, conferring with users, studying systems flow, data usage, and work processes, and following the software development lifecycle.
+ Evaluates and determines the operational feasibility of custom and/or COTS solutions by liaising with vendors, analyzing requirements, problem definition, and proposed solutions.
+ Creates clear, concise, and comprehensive technical documentation and demonstrates solutions by developing flowcharts, diagrams, charts, code comments, and maintainable code.
+ Collaborates with enterprise architecture and other teams to design, develop, and implement system specifications, standards, and programming.
+ Identifies opportunities to improve day-to-day operations by conducting systems analysis, collaborating with COTS vendors, recommending changes in policies and procedures, and implementing changes.
+ Mentors and coaches software engineers and other members as assigned by providing advice, performing code reviews, leading meetings, and identifying educational opportunities.
+ Contributes to the development of technology standards and best practices by researching and evaluating emerging technologies for inclusion within the organization's development environment, and sharing knowledge and expertise with the team.
+ Apply sound service and project management guidelines to ensure accurate and timely completion of assigned tasks and projects.
Position Requirements
A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree is required, with a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science being preferred.
Four (4) years of total credited experience.*
Four (4) years of experience working in an Information Technology group or R&D software lab are required.
Four (4) years of experience creating software are required.
Or any equivalent combination of experience and training. *
The amount of credit a candidate receives for prior years of experience is based on the relevancy of that experience to the required or preferred prerequisites of the job description. Experience is prorated based on hours worked. LRHR assigns and validates the "credited experience".

Salary Range
Minimum: $117,044.00
Maximum: $175,568.00
Salary offers will be determined by a candidate’s education, training and relevant experience. Any final offer of employment will fall within the range stated above. For transparency, we choose to list the full available grade range, however, TriMet’s salary administration process will ultimately determine the final salary offered.
