The Digital Modernization Sector has an exciting career opportunity for a Site Reliability Engineer in Colorado Springs, CO to support the US Space Force’s Space Systems Command (SSC), Operational Command and Control Acquisition Delta, known as Kobayashi Maru. This role is instrumental in ensuring the reliable and efficient operation of hybrid cloud infrastructure, and combines software engineering, systems engineering, and operations expertise to enhance the stability, scalability, and security of mission-critical systems, and is responsible for maintaining and improving the performance of cloud-based solutions, automating operations workflows, and implementing best practices for security and availability in a DoD-compliant environment.

THE CHALLENGE (primary responsibilities)

Design, Implement, and Maintain Hybrid Cloud Solutions: Architect, deploy, and manage cloud solutions that integrate on-premises infrastructure with cloud environments, ensuring optimal performance, security, and availability.Cloud and Infrastructure Automation: Utilize infrastructure-as-code principles to automate the provisioning, scaling, and management of hybrid cloud environments, reducing manual intervention and improving operational efficiency.CI/CD Pipeline Development: Collaborate with development teams to implement, maintain, and optimize continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines for automated testing, integration, and delivery of applications and infrastructure updates.Security & Compliance: Ensure cloud infrastructure and services adhere to DoD security and regulatory standards, including secure configurations, vulnerability management, and compliance reporting.Incident Management & Performance Optimization: Proactively monitor cloud-based solutions and on-prem infrastructure for potential issues, implement incident response strategies, and optimize application and infrastructure performance to ensure high availability.Collaboration with Development Teams: Work closely with development and operations teams to drive automation initiatives, troubleshoot system performance issues, and implement scalable solutions for both application and infrastructure needs.Security Best Practices: Implement and maintain cloud security best practices, including identity and access management (IAM), encryption, network security, and system hardening.

WHAT SETS YOU APART (basic qualifications)

Requires BS and 8+ years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 6+ years of prior relevant experience, additional years of experience will be accepted in lieu of a degree.   Must be a U.S. citizen and possess an active DoD Secret clearance.Must hold a DoD IAT Level II or higher 8570/8140 compliant certification (e.g., Security+ CE, CASP).Extensive knowledge of cloud computing platforms, including AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud Platform (GCP).Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools, such as Terraform and CloudFormation, for automating cloud deployments.Proficiency in monitoring and observability tools, including Prometheus and Grafana, with a strong background in incident management and response.Deep understanding of security best practices for hybrid cloud environments, ensuring compliance and risk mitigation.Strong scripting and automation skills using Python, Bash, and PowerShell to streamline cloud operations.Proven experience in managing and troubleshooting cloud-native applications and services, optimizing performance and reliability.Expertise in containerization and orchestration technologies, including Docker and Kubernetes, for scalable application deployment.Familiarity with Agile project management tools, such as Confluence and JIRA, for collaboration and workflow tracking.

Preferred Qualifications, not required

Familiarity with DoD RMF (Risk Management Framework) and other DoD-specific compliance standards.Experience with multi-cloud and hybrid-cloud architectures.

Pay Range:Pay Range $104,650.00 - $189,175.00
