Site Safety and Health Officer
This position will be responsible for providing leadership of the safety program across multiple geographical sites and functions, making decisions, and managing work requirements, utilizing a skilled team in an environment that requires flexibility, adaptability, and responsiveness. The Site Safety and Health Officer [Manager] will report to the PMO Program Manager. The duties and responsibilities listed below are representative of the nature and level of work assigned and are not necessarily all inclusive. **RESPONSIBILITIES** + Responsible for maintaining a safe workplace and ensuring that safety is the highest priority in the workplace. + Comply with all Amentum corporate Environmental Health & Safety Program and Quality Assurance requirements and goals. Provide information and materials to these functions as necessary to ensure adequate and legal documentation. + Provide general support of continuous improvement and Safety Management techniques and facilitate product line and/or service support application of those techniques, recommend training, tools, and methods for safety for Amentum and subcontractor employees. + Align the safety management function with the performance needs of the product line and/or service support application. + Manage and maintain Safety policies and procedures, the basis being Host Country, OSHA, NAVFAC, and USACE requirements. Job role is independently accountable for a staff of safety professionals. + Maintain an audit schedule, and perform audits of procedures, reporting requirements, plans, programs, and records. + Coordinate with and monitor subcontractor safety representatives’ implementation of contractual safety requirements. + Lead Safety initiatives and requirements of the program, developing and revising TO/Site level Job Hazard Analyses and required updates to policy as required. + Ensure the effective implementation of the Task Hazard Analysis process by workers and supervisors. + Maintain the Intelex database for reporting injuries, observations, environmental releases, near misses, and risk assessments. + Record data and analyze fault criteria; report on safety to higher headquarters and customer as required by contract and standards/requirements. + Track deficiencies and work with management and subcontractors to define corrective action plans and close out deficiencies. + Collect and analyze Key Process Indicator data to determine trends and recommend or implement actions as required. + Prepare and provide reports to management. + Ensure safety-related training is provided to employees. + Implement and maintain an effective management system for efficient operations. + Work closely with Functional Area Managers and USG Representatives. + Adhere to company, Host Country, and DoD processes, regulations, and statutes. + Manage the people leadership of the organization to include direction of work assignments and staffing of positions with qualified personnel, and interfacing with client’s contracting office. + Perform additional duties and projects as assigned. **QUALIFICATIONS** + Bachelor’s degree in a related field, or five (5) years related experience and/or education. + Five (5) years continuous experience as a Site Safety/Health Officer on installation-wide sized program(s) supporting DoD or DOS program(s) as per EM 385-1-1 [para. 01.A.17]. + OSHA 30-Hour General Industry (1910) and/or Construction (1926) Certifications. + ANSI/ASSE Z359.2 24-Hour Fall Protection Certification required. + EM 385 40-Hour Certification preferred. + Two (2) years international experience. **SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES** + Extensive knowledge of principles and processes involved in Safety Management. + Successful management of multiple sites in geographically dispersed locations. + Ability to collect, analyze, and summarize data and to prepare clear and concise reports. + Experience in effectively dealing with international and headquarters staff, and sensitivity to other cultures. + Exercise sound judgment and make decisions independently. + Ability to work in a fast-paced environment that requires handling multiple tasks at a given time and rapidly adapting to changing priorities and schedules. + Cross-cultural sensitivity with an international perspective. + Excellent organizational and time management skills. + Expert computer skills, specifically in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel. + Ability to become an active and functioning member of a team. + Ability to be innovative and be an agent for change. + Expert communication skills to facilitate and disseminate information. **PHYSICAL AND/OR OTHER REQUIEMENTS** + Candidates must possess a valid passport of home country with a minimum of 12 months remaining prior to the expiration date..
