Location/Division Specific InformationUnity Lab Services provides a single source for integrated lab service, support and supply management. Our customized service offerings and dedicated team of diverse service associates have the flexibility and experience to uniquely address our customer’s laboratory's business needs.
Location: Cambridge, MA
Hours: Mon-Fri 8am-4:30pm
Discover Impactful Work:The position is focused primarily on scientific support services within our company's core offerings of stockroom services, material handling, shipping/receiving, and lab support.
A Day in the Life:Operate and maintain flow cytometry instrumentation (BD, Cytek, Sony, ThermoFisher).
Perform daily calibration, monthly maintenance, and troubleshooting.
Maintain NGS instruments, particularly the two QiaCubes.
Conduct weekly or monthly washes as required.
Perform general maintenance on various laboratory instruments & tissue culture rooms, including incubator maintenance.
Conduct quality control procedures and register samples for various instruments.
Conduct general troubleshooting procedures for various lab instrument.
Assist with large lab & storage unit clean-outs.
Assist with freezer de-frosts.
Perform simple IHC/IF techniques (sectioning/staining).
Conduct basic slide scanning and quality control tasks such as restarting microscopes and performing basic checks.
Keys to Success: EducationHigh school diploma or equivalent required.
Associates or Bachelor's Degree in related field preferred.
ExperienceExperience in laboratory setting or services preferred.
1+ years of equivalent experience preferred
1-2 years experience in customer service required.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
Able to read, write and speak English fluently.
Works primarily at customer locations, in office environment to include cubicles and/or in and around shipping/receiving docks, stock rooms, storage locations and laboratory environments.
May pass through areas where chemical based allergens may be in use (such as penicillin, tetracycline, etc.)
Ability to lift, push and pull 30-50 pounds consistently and have the ability to use material handling equipment such as push carts.
Open to working overtime as required.
Detail oriented, problem solver, promotes team performance and success.
Computer/software skills (i.e. Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint.)
Demonstrated verbal, written and presentation skills.
